I actually think he would be a good addition to Arsenal. We do not have that many out and out wingers. Most of the players we play as wingers are actually central midfielders (Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil) who tend to come inside to often. I would like to see the likes of Sterling bombing down on the outside of the defense to stretch it and give our midfielders space to move into.
Sterling could play wide left and bring Sanchez in a central striker with Walcott on the right. That would be a nice speedy strike force.
You're assuming thats where the 20y/o wants to play.
When he's been shifted out wide he has been largely ineffective. BR, in switching Sterling to the tip of the diamond last season found a devastating weapon. Quick to turn, nimble with his feet, and driving at a holding midfielder or CB at pace. A nightmare to defend against. And space opened up for him or others. See the goal against chelsea at anfield in the cup semi final this season for an example of it.
But out wide, the kid sulks a bit, doesnt see the ball as much, and cant influence the game as much. Markovic is probably a better wide player than Sterling, so too Ibe. Maybe I should say more natural, than better.
He'd be another Theo, Ox, or even Welbs at the gunners. All can play out wide, but would prefer to play central.
