My main gripe with BR is he's been there for 3 years and our defence looks complete and utter ****.

Agree....Also reading reports RM wants Sterling for 50m...please take him...we could use the money to buy both Higuan and Lavezzi

Our transfer committee needs to go for training. Last season we sold Suarez for 60mil and bought like 3 or 4 players.

And my opinion on BR, he has a 1 dimensional track mind. He can't/doesn't change tactics if the initial tactic does not work. Job well done on coming close to winning the league. But something seriously needs to be done to improve the defense and I don't see him doing that.

Klopp has major experience on rebuilding the team with less resources than the bigger clubs and did quite well. Maybe he can do the same. But not holding my breathe, will just wait and see who our manager will be for the next season

Couple of points, nothing major.

Luis was sold for 75 million, which probably makes the use of the funds thereafter even worse.

I dont think he is 1 track minded, I just dont think that the track he is on is always the right one. You often find (this last season especially) we go into games and look shocking for the first 45. Second half he changes system or players around and it looks better. And changes it again towards the end if we are chasing or losing control. Too many changes but not enough focus on what really works. Almost a bit of a scatter gun approach. Semi final against Villa we used 3 or 4 different formations in the last hour.

I agree though, he does not know how to set up a defense.

75 million plus loss of Champions league money. I know it was his choice to go but it shows to add his worth to the team.

A 20 goal for an EPL season striker is already awesome and his assists meant that we lost 2 players rolled from that one.

So Rodgers is staying.

Club is 123 years old today!

All I'll say about Rodgers at this point is that if we're not in the Top 3 / playing decent football (not that kuk we were served up post Sturridge injury to Xmas, and post the loss to the Utd (the 2nd time)) by the time the European Winter transfer window rolls around, he will lose what little of the fan base still supports him.

He has to show that he has learnt from his major mistakes last season i.e.

- tactical ineptness vs more experienced managers
- playing key people out of position
- leaving key people on the bench
- talking nonsense to the media
- refusing to bring in extra help who know more than he does

Jury is out, but I'm taking an extremely pessimistic view of the upcoming season.

So it looks like Milner is almost a done deal, interestingly Carra was touting Milner as a potential captain.

Also, looks like we going after Danny Ings - I haven't watched a lot of Burnley so I don't know how to rate him. anyone with more knowledge, what are his attributes? touch, finishing? pace? skill?

I've seen we also linked with Clyne from Southampton - now that I reckon could be a cracking buy. Looks like a fantastic player.

Milner - apparently kuk expensive wages so I damn well hope he is going to be worth it...

Ings - Cheap, backup striker #4 - no gain/no loss - not much better than Borini imo from skillset perspective but works hard and is less 'excitable'. Not gonna win us the league (hoping I will have to eat these words :D )

Clyne - agree - would be a good buy

yeah, though there isn't any transfer fee linked to Milner...

Ings is only 22, hopefully he improves a bit and can become a 12-15 goal striker for us.

Milner - I heard he wanted a whopping signing bonus...

Milner is probably the typical English type midfielder, solid without being exceptional or a stand out. Part of his gripe with City was that he was being played out wide when he preferred and apparently is better when played in the middle of the park. I am curious to see how he will slot in considering that we already have Henderson in that mould and in that role.

Ings is a hard working striker. I think he is better than Fabio in the sense that he doesnt get bullied off the ball, is pretty decent in the air and appears to have a better understanding of what it means to play between the lines. Time will tell but he is not the great hope that will bring us the league... I am more than happy for him to prove me wrong.

Clyne would be a good buy but Saints already turned down 10million. He has 1 year left on his current contract and it looks like we are going up to 14/15million. I have to wonder whether Alves would not have been a better/cheaper short term option as he is also available on a free. Like Milner, he would command a big signing bonus but thats a once off. Its the wages spread over a longer contract that is the real expensive area of a deal like the Clyne one when you consider that united are also sniffing around and he could probably have a choice. Also, Clyne is stronger going forward than he is at defending, I hope this means that we will be reverting to a 4-4-2 as our first choice system.

I hope we dont get Benteke.

Benteke, holy god no. Villa will fleece us for him.

Plus, whilst I think he is a good EPL striker, he simply doesn't suit our play and would not do well at our club IMO.
