Apparently 29m - I'm excited - closest to Suarez since, well, Suarez :)

When you say that, you meaning (in terms of close) that other buys were a 5% Suarez and he is a 6% or that in terms of position, he is closest to where Suarez plays?

:D

Compared to what?

Ballo = -100% Suarez
Lambert = -110% Suarez

Firmino - close to 90% (in my overinflated fan opinion) of the Suarez who arrived at Anfield all those years ago :D - the Suarez who left us is in a class of his own.

I'll post some interesting Firmino stats later :D

LOL...are we really, really sure who's doing the buying at LFC?

BR is only due back at work in July.. Ian doing most of the work iro the deals, and well done to him. Havent seen much of Bobby but it appears he is more of a no10, or false 9, and if I had to make the comparison, I hate doing so, but in the mould of a rooney. Someone who can assist, contribute with goals, tracks back and can use both feet.

Lallana will in all likelihood start wide of a 3 man attack just behind the striker but as we saw with SAS, that's a fluid front 3, so players will interchange and move depending on the game situation and point of attack.

Lots of clubs interested in Firmino so I am happy that for a change, we haven't waited and waited, and showed interest, low balled and then lost out on a player. It was done quietly, and quickly. Thank you. The fee is pretty steep but that finally shows that FSG are willing to pay top dollar for quality and it also includes costs related to his 3rd party ownership and related costs thereto...

Kovacic rumors gathering pace...again.

Lambert will be sold.
Balo, will probably be loaned out.
Be curious to see what happens with Manquillo as I like him a lot. Considering we have Flanno, Wisdom and possibly Clyne coming, someone is going to be sold or miss out. Flanno has been told he will have this year to show after missing last season because of injury. Wisdom will need to show that his time out on loan has helped him improve, as it did for Ibe. Manquillo is on loan with us so he might be the one to miss out.

Really miffed we missed out on Tevez. Oh well..

Onwards.

yeah, because rodgers is really going to set himself up for failure.

And the clincher is that whatever rodgers does, doesn't really matter...his destiny is inevitable.

LOL cheer up man, it's silly season after all...or is it? ;):p

Nice assessment curbs...yeah the key would be how he is utilized (something BR has struggled with last season). Also, assuming Sterling goes; that still leaves Cou, Ibe, Lallana, Marko, Firmino having to be fit into 2 places (or even 1 if a dual strike force of Sturride+New ST is deployed). Since Henderson/Can/Milner/Allen/Lucas(?) will be considered for a 3-man central midfield i suppose.

Sour grapes? far from it... Depay costed 25m, Firmino costed you guys 29m

http://www.squawka.com/comparison-m...ffered/yellow_cards/red_cards/total_passes#90

PSV won the league, Hoffenheim came 7th...

Firmino is a CAM, we had one too many of those, Kagawa, Mata, Fellaini and we never utilised them correctly, wouldn't have made any sense to buy another CAM when we need a CDM.

Seems to me any player and every agent trying to use United as a excuse to bump up their transfer fees...

Looking at Firmino's stats and recovery rate: on the 15 September 2013 he Raptured Ankle Ligament and made a miraculous recovery to play 68 minutes on the 21st... AMAZEBALLS!

I think you'll find Depay didn't have any 3rd party ownership.

But its always funny to see how supporters from the club that lost out, downplays their interest or supposed interest in the player they lost out on.
All signings are a gamble, united, with their revenue can afford to take more of them...

Oh, I didn't say you, just generally over there.

Anyhow, moving on, it's a gamble like any other.

Look at Falcao and Di Maria last season for instance.

This signing is the best bit of news we've had for ages.

90% of signings that United and LFC fight over, United will win. More, even.

To be honest this doesn't even apply, didn't see any posts saying that anyone was really interested, club or supporters.

Di Maria was bad for the price tag and expectation, but I thought he was okay generally. Not a trainsmash, and I'm sure he'll do better.

I think with this dude if he doesn't start playing well you'll see some grumblings, purely on his transfer cost.

:D

We are Liverpool supporters!

When you look in the dictionary under "grumble" and "moan" you will see "commonly associated with Liverpool supporters"

We'll be absolutely moaning and carrying on about our "useless" transfer committee, etc. etc.

That said, we hardly got value out of the 25m we paid for Lallana and most fans are willing to give him a chance to prove himself.

Lovren, at 20m was just bad.

Firmino is 22m + 7m in extras (performance bonuses, etc) so ja, not too worried

and oh, lookie here what I found....

On mobile right now, is it really 29mio £? That would be a nice, fitting amount, I'm glad that Hoffenheim isn't giving him away for 25-something mio €.
He's no long passing assist-monster like De Bruyne (and Hoffenheim is also lacking a competent striker for that), but better known for his ball-distributing short/medium range passes and dribblings around and into the box and his direct combination-play. He's also a good finisher and decent free kick-taker.
He kicked ass the last two seasons at a above-average, but not world class club and should have the potential to get 20 goals+assists if he manages to start regularly.

Sounds like a good buy.
