You need a few working class blokes at the top. That quote by Shanks...

"If a player tells me he can't decide what to do in the box, I tell him to put it in the back of the net, then we will discuss the options afterwards" is not something you would hear Benitez or Wenger say. Wenger in particular would probably ask for time out and explain a complicated manouver to pass the ball around the box 10 times beforenarrowly putting it in at a very tight angle. :p

here are a few more Shankly classics

"If you are first you are first. If you are second you are nothing." Bill Shankly

"Just go out and drop a few hand grenades all over the place son." Bill Shankly to Kevin Keegan

"Where are you from?" "I'm a Liverpool fan from Manchester." "Well laddie, what's it like to be in heaven?" Bill Shankly to a Liverpool fan
:D

"He couldn't play anyway. I only wanted him for the reserve team!" Bill Shankly upon hearing Celtic's Lou Macari had snubbed Liverpool in favour of a move to Manchester United."
:D

"It's great grass at Anfield, professional grass!" Bill Shankly comparing the Anfield pitch to other grounds
:D

"The difference between Everton and the Queen Mary is that Everton carry more passengers!" Bill Shankly

"If a player is not interfering with play or seeking to gain an advantage, then he should be." Bill Shankly on the off-side rule
so true bill :D

absolutely brilliant :)

Let's all join in here, it's for a good cause and maybe it will be a hit and might hear it played on the radio over here.;) I've already purchased it myself.

http://www.thisisanfield.com/news/2009/04/foar-selling-out-and-topping-the-charts/

The Fields of Anfield Road extended play album topped the iTunes charts after just one day of sales on Monday night.

Liverpool fans have been downloading and purchasing the single or album in an attempt to get the specially recorded song into the UK charts, and in doing so raise awareness of the twentieth anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

The Kop anthem has had an added verse penned by Liverpool fan and lead singer of The Farm, Peter Hooton, highlighting the 20 year wait for Justice. All proceeds from the sale of the single will go to the Hillsborough Family Support Group.

The single can now only be purchased online via iTunes, after the only retailer stocking the single - HMV - sold out within hours online and in the selected stores in the north west.

Download the single now and encourage friends and family to do likewise, the single only costs 79p on iTunes. Help carry the fight for justice and show your support for the cause.

I dont think it was a crap game ,just a crap result ,however Chelsea dominated us with their Tactics and movement (counter attacks)
they fully deserved their victory after that stunning performance

Only Rafa Benitez can answer that, He did absolutely nothing last night(as usual), except for kicking about 5 shots into the stands. I hope we can sell him at the end of the season.

Ppl also say that Babel does the same thing over and over but i feel he can do a much better job on the left even though that not his natural position. Now i have to pray for a pool 3-0 win at stamford bridge which i think is possible but not likely..

Despite Hiddink claiming Chelsea exploited weaknesses Reds manager Rafa Benitez insisted it was individual errors and not his defensive system that was to blame for Liverpool's joint-worst defeat in European competition.

Benitez said: "We scored first but after that we were never in control. We conceded a bad equaliser from a set-piece. That was not because of the zonal marking but because players made mistakes to allow people space and time.
"For their first goal there were three players near to the scorer and they were not able to stop him. And then something very similar happened for the second,
we made bad mistakes at crucial times.
Rafa needs to learn to make up better excuses... great way to back your players by blaming them...

Agreed. I'm absolutely gutted. Chelsea were surprisingly brilliant, I did not expect them to play with such effectiveness. I think the Liverpool players were caught as well to be honest. We started well and scored first and then we played in a way that they expected Chelsea to make a average go at it in the way that they would be happy with a 1-0 loss or 1-1 to go back to the bridge. That wasn't to be though. We will have to do a miracle to go through, seen us before doing such miracles but it only happens rarely. I'm still hopeful, especially if we go at there to attack and get one or two in the first half which is possible. The only difficulty would be to stop them conceding.

Unfair in my opinion. There has always been a scapegoat for a season and Lucas has been it this season. He was MOM last week against Fulham.

Were you one of them cheering when he was subbed off on Wednesday night?

4-0.

Good win for Liverpool although helped by a pathetic performance from Blackburn. Good first goal by Torres. The good thing that came from the game is that we were never pushed the entire game which should leave us raring to go on Tuesday night. Gerrard and Skrtel rested, Torres and Alonso taken off early.

I admit I let my emotions get the better of me after a disappointing result.

I just don't see what Lucas brings to the team. I can count on my one hand the matches where he's actually shown some quality.
