Let's get one thing straight. Babel is a good player, not a great player. He can be a great player but he's at the wrong club. he doesn't seem up for it. He lacks any enthusiasm. He's best coming off the bench if anything.

I agree , Babel has all the attributes of a phenomenal footballer however the 2biggest ellements he does not have which is "Heart" and "game intelligence"

I always read Babel saying he is a striker ,but whenever he was given the chance to play as a Striker he just looks so lost ,never makes any good runs behind the defence ,doesnt drag defenders out of positions and when we have the ball he just basically stands still waiting for the ball instead of creating space :(

People always seem to blame Rafa for Babel inconsistent perforamances saying he doesnt play enough ,i tend to think Babel was given ample opportunity to prove himself ,he just keeps dissapointing the manager

I hope Yossi plays tonight

IMO Babel needs close man management. He needs to be "let loose" so to speak. His natural attacking flair needs to be nurtured with a large does of personal support and motivation. None of which Rafa can provide

Liverpool Snap Up Greek International Sotiris Kyrgiakos, Announces Player

UPDATE 22:57 BST: Sotiris Kyrgiakos has officially announced, via his personal website, that he is now a Liverpool player.

"Never in my life have I hidden from the consequences of my choices," a statement from the 30-year-old said.

"I said last week that I would be an AEK Athens player for the next four years and I meant what I said at the time.

"Today, however, I had to make the most important decision in my career. Going back on my word was difficult, but this is life, and life can bring about strange things."

-

Liverpool have today pulled off a surprise transfer coup, and swooped for Greek international Sotiris Kyrgiakos from AEK Athens, as manager Rafa Benitez looks to reinforce his rearguard, weakened by injury in recent days.

Kyrgiakos has spent only a year back in Greece, after a career which has seen him play in Germany for Eintracht Frankfurt and in Scotland with Rangers.

Goal.com Greece reports that the player has cost the Reds €3million, after they Merseysiders made an initial bid of €1.5million. AEK themselves began the negotiations holding out for €5million.

The move has seemingly emerged from out of the blue, surprising Greek observers who had little or no inkling that the swoop was on the cards.

Stoke City travel to Anfield on Wednesday night with doubts surrounding the fitness of Martin Skrtel, who has a jaw injury, though he could possibly play, and Daniel Agger, still sidelined with a back injury.

Never heard of him

we need some more creativity in the midfield , seems to me lucas is still developing , no one is pulling the strings in the midfield like xabi but i hopefully once aquilani has recovered he will provide some extra creativity and start makin runs as well in the midfield....i hope yossi starts tonight as well

But why pick on Lucas. Babel, Torres and even Mascherano had a poor display on Sunday. Lucas was much better in the midfield than Mascherano on Sunday.

I see your point - but how many good EPL games has Lucas had and how many for Mascherano.

Lucas is still young and i don't dispute that he has talent - he just isn't bringing much of it to our EPL games.

i still think we lack a bit in the middle ,so i cant wait to see Aquaman in action ,However i hope the Lucas bashers start giving the kid some slack as i thought he was awesome last night ,made a couple of fantastic runs and he seems to be more attack minded than Monsterano ,Lucas just needs more confidence to attack then we'll have another monster of a player in midfield :D

I would luv to eat my words - I wish Lucas could have a brilliant season....just means our team is performing better with another great player in the middle of the park!

Special mention has to go out to Lucas, I thought he was superb last night, won everything in the midfield last night. When Aquilani starts to feature, you have to think that Lucas will put pressure on Mascherano's position.

There is something about this lad that tells me he has more in his wardrobe.
