We need to get decent midfielders. Keep Gerrard and Lucas and let the rest go.
Look at our wingers. Downing and Henderson!

Hey, in about 2 years Henderson and Downing will be as brilliant as Lucas is now!

Aqualani is still far better than what we have now. (Adam/Henderson/Spearing).

A "crocked" Aqualani as you called him is still a bargain when you look at Downing for 20mil, Henderson for 13mil etc etc. In his 12 appearances he made for us he scored a few and had a couple of assists.

Firstly I'm sure Henderson, Downing and Carrol were forced on Kenny by the new owners moronic buy English transfer policy.

Secondly Aqualani was a monumentally bad purchase. He didn't play for the first six months because he was injured. Has a player ever been bought for that kind of money with an injury lay off like that???

Thirdly the reason why our midfield has been so dire is because of KD's defensive tactics. The same thing used to happen under Rafa. They used to just sit in front the back four twiddling their thumbs too.

How old is Downing ?

Won't he be dead or retired in 2 years time ?:erm:

29 or something.

Here's a list of major signings since 2008 for over 10mill

Keane
Aqualani
Johnson
Raul Meireles
Carrol
Luis Suarez
Downing
Henderson

Only one of those I'd consider world class and worth the money spent.

until there's a change of mentality at the club. Starting from the top.

Unfortunately that looks like it will require another change of ownership

I agree but Raul was also improving a lot in the English game... he was doing much better in his 1st season then what Adam is doing.. I know Adam isn't getting a lot of games lately and he is a good player but I still prefer Raul to any of the last few transfers besides Suarez...
Last few games Raul played for us his was banging them in... which we are definately lacking at this moment..

Meireles hasn't settled that well at Chelsea either. . . just have a look at how they are struggling to conjure up anything

Well the tactics don't suit Adam. At Blackpool he had team-mates swarming forward for him to pick out, creating plenty of space for him to work in. Now he has nothing to work with and spends his time sitting deep closing down 99% of the time. Made all the more worse after losing Lucas

But I agree selling Raul was a bad move.

Raul wanted to go...... and/or Kenny didn't want him.

There spent a *****load on so called English talent that have not lived up to their reputations and not performed consistently.

Raul wanted to go because Kenny made him feel unwelcomed....once Raul heard about kenys plans he wanted to go.. maybe his not playing well at Chelsea but he was playing very well for us at the end....

Kenny should buy some African talent. Dirt cheap and they will play their hearts out.

True but again Henderson has been played out of position for the most part, Carrol spends most of his time in his own half, facing his own goal and Downing only gets the ball once the opposition have 10 men back to defend
