He has played at RB in a CL final yeahhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!

he will probably make an outstanding CB.... remember Lothar Matthäus !!!!

Stevie actually started of at right back for the injured Babel if i recall correctly.

Your keeper should have come out for the first goal because the cross was from so far out. However you can't blame him for the second, most players would have needed a further touch & that gives the keeper time to see where the striker might go. So Reina probably expected RVP to take down the ball but he instead hit it first time, if he covers the near RVP had the rest of the goal wide open.

You are right in that Reina missed it cos he never expect RVP to hit it.
But as a supposedly WC goalie, he should have expected it (RVP scored a similar goal last season i think).

Aqualani! I wish we could've kept him at LFC. If he plays 5 more games he is Milans to keep :(

A midfield of Gerrard + Aqualani + Lucas would've been epic :)

How does that work again. He plays for Milan and and they can keep him???
Must be at a price.

BTW, Stevie has aged and not the same as before, but miles ahead of Adam or Henderson.
He can put the ball on Caroll's head consistently (though he will still miss).

In which case he should have expected RVP to go to the far post (which is where he went in that Everton game):)

Angle was more acute than the Everton goal, he was more central there. To be honest, most strikers would've tried for at least one more touch, so I don't know how Reina could've anticipated that.

Reina was at his near post anyway.....

he ought to have saved it, it would have been a different case had he been more central and if he was caught flat footed.

Credit to RVP for hitting it first time.... Reina should have done better. Period !

Nothing. Has. Changed!!!!!

If this wasn't KK and the Noddy Badge hadn't been won surely the manager would be facing the sack?

Well the owner did give him a target and I'm sure they will measure him against that. Can't understand why we haven't solved this bloody scoring deficiency. Chances get created but no one knocks them in. I would be tempted to tell fowler to stand in the box and knock the goals in!

Indeed. We need to get over the nostalgia and face reality.

alas most fans won't see it. Can't believe we're going through this all over again. Incompetent owners, cult like worship of clueless manager surviving on long past glories it's like Deja Vu

I can only hope KK didn't sanction the signing of Henderson, Downing and Carroll and feels compelled to play them because of the owners.

How old is Stevie again ?

I think that you are reminiscing to much over the good 'ol days !!!

reminiscing, I think not.... just two weeks ago Stevie showed he still had pace....
At 31, he may not be what he was at 17, but to suggest that he is past it really makes you seem clueless.
CB and RB are two very different roles.... Just because he is capable of playing any where really, you want to place him at the back... says it all.

Stevie is not the same since recovering from his injury... but any player who is out for almost a year, will also take time to get back to the level of sharpness they had when they left, it may take him even longer due to his age, but that's not to say that he can't and wont get there.

I am a bit surprised at the Liverpool fans against Kenny Dalglish. I don't think he has done that bad. the 'Pool's football speed and passing has increased greatly, your defense has been rock solid, and there have been so many matches where you have actually played the opposition into the ground but come out with nothing. Yes you definitely need a forward that can finish the chances but I can tell you that Kenny probably knows that. with who he bought/loaned at the beginning of the season for striking I wouldn't have thought that to be your problem areas. I am quite shocked out how bad Carroll is doing at Liverpool because I thought he would have been a perfect fit for suarez or bellamy but it didn't work out.

I think Kenny will be looking for a goal poacher in the off season.

Your football is a lot better than when Woy was in charge so don't be to hard on kenny

Common sense coming from a non-biased individual...
well said. if only some of the LFC supporters can show the same.

Really 7th 10 points behind Arsenal and 7 behind Chelski two clubs supposedly in crises is not "that bad" after spending 80 million+ on players :erm:

the 'Pool's football speed and passing has increased greatly,

There have been plenty of performances this season worse than anything under Rafa and just as bad Hodgson.

your defense has been rock solid,

I thought so too until I realised that has more to do with the fact the teams tactics are extremely defensive. If you're going to sit back and keep it tight against minnows at Anfield your defence would look rock solid. In fact there have been only 4 clean at Anfield this season despite these tactics.

and there have been so many matches where you have actually played the opposition into the ground but come out with nothing.

meh same thing was said during Rafa's reign. "we're still creating chances" ad nauseam.

Yes you definitely need a forward that can finish the chances but I can tell you that Kenny probably knows that. with who he bought/loaned at the beginning of the season for striking I wouldn't have thought that to be your problem areas. It wasn't given much of a chance to work. Both Suarez and Carroll's confidence has been killed off by the negative team tactics. Almost any striker who spends most of his time back to goal on the half way line chasing the ball will lose his scoring touch.

I think Kenny will be looking for a goal poacher in the off season.

I doubt that. Poachers generally refuse to sit back and defend which is a prerequisite for any position at this club

Your football is a lot better than when Woy was in charge so don't be to hard on kenny

Not a lot but better. Again when you consider 80 million + was spent it's not nearly enough. If 'Woy' had still been at the club where do you think the club would be now? 15th? No I'd say not too far off where they are.

from a gunner fan :D

Ah this explains it. You just want to undermine the club . KK is doing great for you.

By the way do you think Wenger is not doing a bad job at Arsenal? 7 years without a trophy, relying on one player and large doses of luck to hang on to 4th, essentially now a feeder club for what were once your peers, surpassed by your rivals Spurs ....

Though I like Kenny, I said it from the beginning, he won't take us far. But I believe he isn't doing so bad. I rate we should give him at least another season or 2. If Liverpool haven't improved by a huge margin then we should let him go and replace him.

If anything Kenny = FSG have brought some stability to LFC which we needed.

Start judging things from next season onwards, the next 2 or 3 seasons are for rebuilding and restructuring we just need to be patient. This isn't Chelsea/Man City :)

I agree. at least another season or 2. next season we have to qualify for champions league and if we don't then there hasn't really been good progress.
