Yossi is a quality player, if I had my way his name would also be cemented into the first team squad. At the begining of last season he was getting a raw deal but proved to Rafa at the end of the season. We got that Hungarian side in the CL next, we need some shooting practise.

but WTF with Rafa?

Rafa said:
"Lucas supported and managed in the middle and kept everyone else going forward,For me he was the key player today. We can talk about Yossi but it was thanks to Lucas. One thing everyone told me when I came here was that if you work hard the fans are with you.

"They could see again today that Lucas is a worker who has quality. He can challenge in the air, tackle and pass the ball

His like a Gerrard but could be better! Lets hope he adapts to the EPL well, we could see him slot into Gerrards place behind Torres and that will bring Steve back into CM which will see Lucas demoted to the bench :)

Regarding the first part of that, I highly doubt it, Stevie G bring more than just talent to the pitch, he brings leadership and drive. Not to mention a thunderbolt that is f**king accurate (and has saved Liverpool countless times).

As for the latter part of that statement, let me just point out that when Gerrard was playing just behind Torres, especially in the last part of last season, Liverpool picked apart most teams 3/4/5-0, and were an absolute joy to watch. Even if Aquilani has more talent than Gerrard, there's still the matter of whether he'll develop that sixth-sense kind of partnership with Torres, which is so hard to find.

**Disclaimer - I'm a United fan.

I agree, that little dude comes on and gives 100% all the time. Dunno why Rafa refuses to make him a definite first team player.

Nope. If anything having Gerrard playing deep and running the show showed up Lucas' lack of creativity in previous games even more

Did the same thing with Kuyt. When the fans turned on him Rafa stuck with him no matter how crap he played. It's his intense stubbornness. A failing it seems he can't overcome

If any of you lot watch the Chelsea - Porto game, you'll have a chance to see Radamel Falcao Garcia in action. From the news over the summer he was a target of Rafas and probably would be in Liverpool colours had Rafa been given a little more dosh. He's been prolific so far with Porto... then again... aren't they all? ;)

Raw deal. Unbelievable. He was inconsistent during the first half of last season hence he was not picked regularly. There were games where he was really poor. He only started to make an impact towards the last third of last season.

I don't know you but I bet you were slating him and especially slating Rafa during the beginning of last season when he was picked.

Babel is **** because he has no work ethic, something which Rafa does not like and I agree with him.

Sure he does, its quite evident when his playing badly the whole team suffers, just saying it will ease pressure of Stevie to get in at defenders all the time that are trying to cripple him :)

Well Gerrard played in center of midfield this weekend and we won 4-0 :)
albeit Yossi was outstanding but with him playing more central it free'd up alot of space for the likes of Reira and Yossi, Im not saying go for this style of play but when times get tough like those games we drew last season we can adapt to this sort of formation.

He was inconsistent because Rafa played him out of position, he got better after his rant in the media and he needed game time to improve, his way of playing is different and in the season before he proved that to us in the game at Wigan where he got the winner did the same at Fulham earlier this year.

I never slate a Liverpool player (okay maybe I do give Lucas a rough time) but NEVER have I slated Rafa, Im a firm believer in the stance "IN RAFA WE TRUST" he does frustrate you at times but you know his too good to mess things up.

Lucas needs time, forget about all those awards he won in Brazil, thats the past. Its quite evident that this kid has some sort of talent that his not showing us yet. He needs time, but what gets me is that when HE doesnt perform well, he still gets picked for the team but when the likes of Riera, Babel, Crouch etc.. did they were benched or left out completely. You watched Saturdays game, Lucas had a good game, he didnt do anything stupid and managed his postion well, he wasnt outstanding. He didnt change the game as such. So thats why I was confused as to what Rafa was trying to say.

His lazy and needs a kick up his arse, his fast and has a decent shot. He could be a hit if he wants too

Ryan Babel is lazy and tactically inept to play as a central striker ,I keep hearing people say that he is a striker ...let me clear this up again Babel was never a striker he played on the left of a 4-3-3 formation for ajax

Whenever Benitez has given him a chance to play up front he dissapointed the team with his tactical stupidity ,whereas our formation requires the striker to have clever movement to drag defenders out of position to make the space for Superman/Yossi and kuyt

just look at the stats since Torres came to liverpool, Gerrard/yossi and kuyt have scored more goals because of Torres's runs and movement

Babel will not give us anything upfront

he has all the physicall weapons but the most important weapon he doesnt have which is a footballing brain

I would think that Rafa has a better view of Babel's talents than you do. Do you really think that Babel has never played as a central striker in trianing games? Pfft...

exactly ,Rafa has even said it publicly that Babel needs to improve tactically to play as a striker ,hell even I could see that in his first game as a striker ,he just not wired correctly to be a striker
