This whole thing about him wanting to play as a striker is taken from Wenger's inspired shift of Henry from left wing to central striker. Then again... Henry had the talent to play up there. Why do people forget that other Wenger "place change" where Viera was moved to central midfield from a wide left forawrd(ish) role that he played before his Arsenal days

When Babel came, he was labeled the new 'Henry'. I thought everybody learned their lesson when Bruno was labeled the new 'Zidane'.

Very poor, same team that started on Saturday but seemed lost. We did put together a few good moves, but we gave away possesion far too much. They did close us down very quickly but thats no excuse, playing at home, plus with our experience in the competition. I think its fair to say they frustrated alot of supporters last night, the only guys that were trying were Kuyt, Riera & Yossi. Gerrard seemed to be having an off day interms of hitting the target, number of his chances would have went in on another day, Torres was isolated for most parts and they quickly shut down Yossi after he was running about in the first half.

That is a good thing to do. With a player like Babel, he needs to have confidence and feel like he is a part of the team. Torres is just making that statement to give him the confidence. He has been very poor for us and he does a good thing and rightly so, he gets given praise. That doesn't mean everything is ok though. He needs to take every chance he gets and make an impression if he wants more game time.

I have a feeling he will start against Leeds on Tuesday night. let's see how he fairs then.

What a game, Torres just proved why his the worlds most lethal striker, that first goal was precise!

Defence looked crap, but that was because of Cole & Hines, that kid really looks good. Babel did very well coming on as a sub, I feel he does have something to prove & as long as he can keep it to that level he might be getting what he wants. His got pace and skill & he used both of that to his advantage yesterday. Fine it was just 1 cross, but a well weighted cross in the right area. Lets hope he starts against Leed tomorrow night & I would also like to see Pacheco getting a start. His doing pretty well.

Squeezed through last night. None of the 'fringe' players put in the kind of performance to warrant a run in the first team except Spearing who was the pick of the bunch. From the little I've seen of him there is not much difference, besides experience, between him and Lucas.

Wasnt the most exciting games Ive ever seen, Leeds should have really won that game 3-1, they only have them self to blame, Mecchio touch the ball before it went over, and he was clearly offside, if he didnt Beckford would have had the goal, then Doyle missed a clear header & Beckford messed up 2 great chances. We were average I felt, but we did attack well, the full backs did well in attack but were crap in defence. Deggen also likes running at defenders so thats good to see. Babel was bombing down the right and putting decent balls in the box but no one should follow up & Ngog kept running to the near post!

Masch might be in trouble with regards to his swinging arm, he did well to make it look like it was un intentional but from the replays its obvious, lol.

Old news now but in case some haven't seen it:

Liverpool Football Club have signed an £80million shirt sponsorship deal with London-based bank Standard Chartered, newspaper The Times has revealed.

Earlier this evening club co-owner George Gillett said the club’s new sponsor will be officially unveiled on September 18th at a press conference.

But The Times has revealed that the contracts have been signed and a four year deal with the worldwide banking giant.

The £80million figure, £20million per season, equals that achieved by Manchester United in their latest sponsorship deal with American financial company, Aon Corp.

The Reds’ previous sponsorship deal with Danish brewers Carlsberg earnt the club a mere £7.2million per season. The 17-year affiliation between Carlsberg and Liverpool will finish at the end of the current season.

^^yip, current design phases out at the end of the season, perfect timing when I get my new Gerrard 8 shirt.

The new away kit is awesome, & the 3rd kit is a winner.

Hull tomorrow, they got smashed 4-0 mid week by the blue ****e, lets hope we can do the same!
