Maybe it was Pepe pair together with Ramos that made him look like a loose cannon...

I never liked Pepe, he actually seemed like the loose cannon and the one who was never fully comfortable. Ramos always looked quality on his own and like you say, maybe it was the him being a victim of that partnership
Well you can't disregard Spains dismal WC spell...

Was it the fact that the emphasis was on their attack and thats where it fell short?

Standard negotiation tactic, i wouldn't be too worried and i still expect this transfer to happen.

LVG stated that he wanted to get players in early and get them involved in the preseason so as to be more ready or part of the team when the season starts compared to last season when he just took over.
My concern is that the time to get new players in, is really short if we are to get them in and integrated in the same way as our current players - first pre-season match being the 18 July. To get them to start with our current lot, we need to get them signed and joined up with the team within the next few days...like you said, 4-8 weeks aint gonna cut it - our transfer window deadline should be end of the first week of July

Yeah, agreed but a lot of players are on vacation, so could be that once 1st comes then some movement will be seen as a lot of them come back from holiday etc. So next few days might be a good indicator as to what will happen. Well I hope so anyway.
