Manchester United make huge second offer fro Arturo Vidal, up to €50m

The Vidal stories are continuing apace in Italy and specifically with Turin newspaper Tuttosport. It's claimed on Tuesday that Manchester United have come back in with a second offer having had their first one refused.

Tuttosport say that an original proposal which would have seen Juventus receive €40m, plus a further €3m in bonuses, was rejected immediately by Juventus chief Beppe Marotta. According to the reporting in Italy it's increasingly apparent that Juventus will sell for what they consider to be a good price.

The Turin club would have probably rather there was an auction for Vidal with clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Monaco involved but those clubs either have priorities elsewhere or have been hamstrung by FFP rules and sanctions. Right now there only appears to be Manchester United at the table for Vidal.

Tuttosport claim that Manchester United's latest offer is €43m plus bonuses, they reckon that could rise to €48m to €50m as long as targets are met within the contract. Juventus are said to want a minimum of €45m so a lot will depend on how hard those bonuses are to achieve.

Vidal's agent is pushing the situation and conducting negotiations to try and find a solution for his client. Fernando Felicevich has already got Manchester United to offer Vidal wages of €6.7m per year after tax, according to Tuttosport.

Wenger wants Jones or Smalling

Arsene Wenger will only allow Thomas Vermaelen to join Manchester United if he can sign either Phil Jones or Chris Smalling in exchange. The Arsenal boss is keen to bring in defensive cover for the Belgian, who only has a year left on his contract.

HUMMELS GOING NOWHERE

A HUGE development in Manchester United’s bid to sign Mats Hummels. Spanish newspaper Sport claimed on Monday that United had agreed a R287.29 million (R290.38m) deal to sign the World Cup winner, but Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has told Ruhr Nachrichten today: "Mats joining Man Utd? For R287.29m? For such little money you can forget that immediately."

DAMN, looks like Utd is getting a total makeover. Should be interesting to watch Utd next season, if all these signings happen. Just hope they don't gel :D

I don't like it. I accept that the SAF days are well and truly over, but this buying a new team from scratch thing isn't for me.

Pretty much, but this entire makeover just seems surreal if it were to happen. At least the last time it happened, we got youth into the team.

De Gea
Rafael Jones Hummels Shaw
Carrick
Vidal Rooney/Herrera
Cuadrado Januzaj
RVP

Can replace Carrick with Mata to flip to triangle up or drop Vidal a bit deeper and play 4-2-3-1. With Carrick injured, maybe *can't believe I'm about to say this* Cleverly fills in the role as he can pass and try dictate tempo from there.
