You guys are missing my point which was he was a good option for January with Everton wanting Memphis. We have loads of very important games coming quick and fast and if anything happens to Zlatan, injury or form we are screwed.

Beside them not playing in the same position comparison between Memphis and Lukaku is ridiculous. Lukaku is a proven premiership striker only second to Aguero since the 12/13 season. Memphis had one "decent" season in Holland.

Lukaku was only 18/19 at Chelsea. His good buddy Pogba also left because he wanted to play and look what happened there.

Pogba returned as a marquee signing, guaranteed to start so long as he is fit. Only way you'd have enticed Lukaku is if you changed the system to accommodate both he and Zlatan, a la PSG going two-up with Zlatan and Cavani. On present form, it would be stupid to even think about placing him on the bench and as a player he would not consider that for a second.

Yes, as a fan I'd love him, but we have to be realistic here. He isn't a #2 nor is Zlatan, so you either have one or you change things to accommodate both.

A lot can change between now and next season. Griezmann might come, Rooney might be sold and Zlatan might take a more reserved role. Lukaku is a possibility.

That's a big one. :p I reckon the desire - and ego - is still there for him to keep going, but I agree with what has been said, they do need to make sure they have things in place post-Zlatan.

I don't see Zlatan as a number 2 anywhere...he'd rather leave and go be a star somewhere else. MLS maybe or back home.

Griezmann can come, Rooney can go, Zlatan will stay and Lukaku can stay away :)

I'd rather have Morata alongside Griezmann

That's like 200 million alone. Plus a replacement for Carrick and possibly a CB and RB.

You think we paying 100mil for Morata?
No don't think we interested at all but last bids rejected for him were rumoured around 60. So add " Because it's united tax" and maybe we talking 70-80

Going to be an interesting 15 days starting on Saturday with 5 games .. I hope the squad can rotate nicely ... going to be interesting balancing act by JoMo

2/11 Watford
2/16 ASSE
2/19 Blackburn
2/22 ASSE
2/26 Saints

Wonder how much game time Bastiaan, Fosu Mensah, Martial is going to get ..

First Team
DDG
Valencia, Jones, Bailly, Rojo
Hererra, Pogba
Mata, Mkhi, Rashford
Zlatan

Second Team
DDG/SR
Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw
Schweinstiger, Carrick
Lindgard, Fellaini, Martial
Rooney

Still have Young, fosu Mensah, Tuanzebe,

I know they haven't really performed or even featured but it would have been nice to have a Depay and Schneiderlin in reserve

With all due respect to these players, this would be a painfully slow team. A spirited side could cause them headaches.

Nothing slow about the back 4, and the two wingers plenty quick to bomb balls in for Fellaini.

Since Manchester United lost 0-4 to Chelsea in October 2016, only Chelsea themselves (40) have won more PL points than the Red Devils (31).

Nice pity we stay sixth each and every time we win draw or lose. Hopefully that will change this weekend.

Fantastic...the boys are up for this one. I wasn't looking forward to this fixture and we've gone in exactly as we should.

2 0 up at home against Watford and Mourinho does a like for like replacement, Fellaini for Mata.

There must be some reason that he is a multi league champion manager but I can't always see it.

What's wrong with the sub? Lots of games coming up and Mata was great today.
