Tough but great opportunity to show how we have progressed since they rolled us.

Gonna be tough with a potential 1st leg Europa League game the Thursday before.

09/03/17: Round of 16, first leg
16/03/17: Round of 16, second leg

I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting some sort of mass protest which would culminate in the owners box being pelted with chicken.

From Romero's glove to Mkhitaryan to Rashford to the back of the net 9.98 seconds.

I don't think JM gives a crap about Chelsea anymore

you're forgetting the Stamford Bridge result...he was not pleased with that game. Had an extensive convo with Conte on the touchline after the game.

no that was because Jose said it wasn't nice to rile up the supporters after going 4-0 - which is what Conte did. He said 1-0 yeah by all means but 4-0 is disrespectful

Conte responded with:
“I think that, today, it was right to call on our fans in a moment when I could only hear the supporters of Manchester United [singing] at 4-0. So I called the fans to give the players a great clap after this kind of performance. The players deserved that.

There shouldnt have been, but not all our fans are onside. Some of the fans are against the protests, which is quite puzzling. So that is why we cant get rid of the owners, because not everybody is united as one(excuse the Pun)

I personally never liked Fletcher.

In my opinion, he was one of those unsung heroes during the club's era of dominance. Your Fletchers, O'Sheas, Fortunes, Ji-sung's, Irwins and Butts. The players that were in the shadows of their more esteemed peers but nevertheless an integral part of United's success, playing out of position, doing the hard yards and the donkey work when Fergie was managing the stars and generally forming the spine of a team that would get that equaliser away midweek or bundle the ball over for a win.

To me this is what the club has lost since Fergie's departure and these types of players are no longer deemed ''good enough''. They have a litany of stars but they don't have the grafters that personified United's famous last-gasp levelers or winners. They seemingly have a little more mettle about them under Mou, but its not the same.

I don't particularly agree with you because I think there are a number of players who are not stellar but graft away, but graft isn't enough without some more talent than you could get away previously.

Now I don't want to start a world war but to me the Fortune, Parks, Irwins, Butts (that sounds dirty somehow) of today are the young, blind, valencias (sounds like some exotic citrus) and also darmian.

For me they're still there now and I love that type of player as much as I do Zlatan.

Okay, maybe not Darmian.

United always had the quality talent though. Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Keane, Stam, Cole, Yorke, Teddy, Solskjaer. The difference between them and say a Liverpool or Chelsea (sides whom were never short of quality players) at the time was that when the talent didn't pitch up or was rested, they had a bunch of players that wouldn't let you down. On their days Fowler, Owen, McManaman, Zola, Hasselbaink, Vialli and Di Matteo were sheer class, but when they were off, Liverpool and Chelsea would go and lose to a bottom 6 club or have silly draws against mid-table opposition whereas United's ''second string'' would get the ugly 1-0 win.

To succeed in the Premier League, for a long time you needed the players that could roll with the mid and bottom table scrappers. We can still see it a bit this season as well even though the top sides now have a clear quality advantage. If you want to go away to West Brom, Stoke or Burnley and get a result you need some nutsack and mental fortitude about you. Look at what Lincoln done to Burnley. They done what Chelsea couldn't do because they have the players that can roll their sleeves up and they clearly made Burnley uncomfortable.

I'd put Valencia and Blind in the same bracket, yes. Young can be very wayward at times, even though you can't really fault his effort.

That I agree with totally .. When your Wes Morgans, Tom Huddlestone or Troy Deeney's are having a blinder you need your own Wes Brown, Darren Fletcher and Ji Sung Park to use their better training methods, better fitness and better manager to despatch them.
