I hear ya..but he isnt the worst considering the options we have. And this was one of his more quieter games ( but then again it was only after we went a man down, before that he was doing well as was everyone else) other than that he has done well

Problem is..if we paid 20mil for this 23 year old, his same performances would be praised, but because we paid 89mil, he is not performing. Forget the money as its just United Aimed inflation. The guy will get better and will improve on what is already a fine footballer..with the new recruits coming in, we are in for some spectacular stuff
I think Pogba has also started 46 games this season in a league way more intense than Italy.

Also with the FA Cup there are no easy teams left so playing another 1 possible 2 games vs Spurs/City/Arsenal would not be easy.

Not just started, finished it too. Has he ever been substituted? Same for Zlatan?

No dude if you saw what he was doing at Juve vs what he is doing at United you would also be disappointed... 89m price tag - ya we paying for potential who left, but Ronaldo went to RM for 89m didn't take him long to score record goals from the wing. Pogba needs to do a hell lot more shooting training and score a few more goals than his current tally if he wants to match that 89m price tag - I think the price tag is weighing him down

Ronaldo is in a league of his own..price tag or not (and different type of player)

I did see what he was doing at Juve but this is the EPL - price tag or not, it takes adjusting

He isn't there to match the 89mil tag - he is there to be the player we know he can be so we need to give him the time to do so (again, forget the price tag when you hear what I'm saying).

Maybe you right, the tag may be weighing him down (another draw back of high price tags)

Yesterday once we went a man down, we were just hooving the ball to Chelsea players - nothing he could do. Nothing anyone in the middle or upfornt could do..he did his part defending but nothing else he could do to attack without the ball

I agree with this sentiment. He also needs to see and use his team mates a lot more than he does, trying to be superman all the time when a simple pass could take out a couple of opposition players

Anyhow, onto Rostov

Could be a symptom of the price tag and hype regarding his transfer (trying to show his worth, again faulty logic due to the amounts of money thrown around) - but remember he is only 23, so lets let him mature and grow into his role once the hype and price tag has lost the novelty

It will be better next season for Pogba when we break the record for Griezmann, then people will have another player to moan about.

What you're supposed to do is spend $78 Million on a 29 year old Higuan then get 4 decent seasons then not be able to recoup any of the investment.

No but you could have got 3 or 4 players for the Pogba money, that would have contributed alot more straight away. Spurs paid £5mill for Dele Ali, Dortmund wanted around £40mill for Aubeyemang, and Barca paid less than 40 mill for both Gomes and Arda Turan. Rakitic was bought for around £15mill.

United over paid for Pogba, considering he was on their books before.

So you get 4 decent seasons, end up winning trophies, and the league, and that in itself will recoup that money you invested.

What is this "over paid" business? We're not a chicken tikka corner shop.

The cost of a player, or item, is relative to your income. Affordability and concepts like "over paid" only really works when you're acting in an environment of financial constraints. We might have gotten short term better value.

You say elsewhere about Ronaldo. Well, that was a few years ago. A different player in a different time, in a different context. That's like saying Roy Keane was a steal, or Rooney even. And then when compared to the bargains that were Giggs or Scholes then it is a huge amount. But hugeness is relative.

I just don't understand why we're entertaining anyone with a BRFC in their name. They play one game against us in 5 years and suddenly we're peers.

We're showing kindness to the under-privileged.

iceman - for the sake of peace in our times, you can make the same comments safely in the banter thread.

Not if you are trying to rebuild a team. We did something similar with RVP and at around 30 decline in form can be drastic unless you're Zlatan.

It's easy to say in hindsight that players like Ali were bargains but how many high profile flops have Spurs signed in recent times.
