Just a quick one, having a debate with a utd mate about liverpool's 5 european trophies to united's 3 and bla bla bla.
The crunch of why UTD didn't win more was apparently the munich Disaster. I think to use that as an excuse is in poor taste?
Do you guys also use that as a defence for not winning more european cups?

I don't think the European ban affected United as much as it did Liverpool and Arsenal...Sir Alex's first title came after the ban and Liverpool \ Arsenal were the two best teams in that period (to my recollection anyway). I think we came second in the First Division somewhere in there but I doubt we would have gone too far in Europe if we had played. I guess an argument could be made about gaining experience but it was still 6-7 years after Ferguson's first league title before United won the Champions League in '98.
