Ex-Monaco chief Karlsen on Martial: Man Utd getting potential world-beater

Former Monaco chief Tor-Kristian Karlsen has had his say on Anthony Martial and his move to Manchester United.

Karlsen believes even at his current fee of €60 million, United could be landing a bargain.

He tweeted:

Some thoughts on Anthony Martial: in terms of characteristics/role he's something between a second striker & a centre forward. (1/7)

— Tor-Kristian Karlsen (@karlsentk) August 31, 2015
Outstanding features: smart movement, excellent close control/touch (and overall technical ability), makes everything look simple (2/7)

— Tor-Kristian Karlsen (@karlsentk) August 31, 2015
Very strong in 1v1 situations, obviously very quick/change of pace, surprisingly composed in front of goal for such a young player (3/7)

As a vague reference he can in some way be reminiscent of a young Thierry Henry (not the spitting image, but there are similarities) (4/7)

On the flip side there are issues about consistency, ability to impose himself physically and possibly a certain lack of determination (5/7)

As for the price, Monaco clearly believe Martial is to become a world beater in a 1-2 year perspective (many "insiders" seem to agree) (6/7)

So it's all about future projections & pricing of potential. Could be worth 10 million in a year, could be worth 80 million... (7/7)

Fair enough.

4 days is what they say then so be it.

Yeah...we lost a day before the final day and a half of the transfer window. I think this deal was coming out today regardless and had we won, panic buy would not have been the label thrown around. 12 hours to just pick this guy out doesn't make sense

I'm excited. We need pacey players on both sides. Hopefully this puts Mata/Herrera in the mid 10 role and him and Memphis can start running at defenses.

LVG speaks of wanting pace and creativity, so I hope he drops off some of his process and philosophy antics and just let these guy express themselves at times

You can add Llorente to that too

The only one that would probably add to us on that list is Aubameyang and he seems unattainable.
Those players would definitely add to you, hell even Luca Toni would be more useful than Rooney in goalscoring.

Now you're just trolling.
No, I know Toni is 38 but he was Series A top scorer playing for a small team (second on the charts previous season). I'm sure he would be more productive than any of your strikers in front of goal. He would really plunder them with the likes of Memphis and Mata providing for him.

Yes im sure Luca Toni and Van Gaal would be best buddies.
