no the build up his first bad touch took him backwards... he gave away 2 goals last season because of this bad first touch - went backwards midfield and wingers pushed up past him and the opponent nicked the ball away from him, passed it past the back 4 and goal for the other team... let me find the video...

The problem is if you playing as a lone striker the midfield and the attacks gotta have confidence that you going to get the ball punted up to you and you can hold it up and lay it off to the runners... otherwise there's no point pushing up if you going to keep taking the ball behind

Ja but he scored 25 and assisted 6

Here he lost the match for Everton against Burnley - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7yTMGZQXEQ 00:06

Someone using hours of footage can make anybody look bad.

fish is just upset we didnt get a former Juve player :p

lol nope not upset - just pointing out and you guys gonna be bitching about this later ;) especially if it costs us matches :p

Lets just hope we also bring Zlatan back.

I'm only upset that we not getting someone else, and as you guys are pointing out Hernandez's first touch was also horrible however no one has pointed out Hernandez wasn't the main lone striker - expecting long balls. He was the supplement or plan B, get in nick a goal to snatch a draw from defeat/a win from a draw.

With JM's style if Lukaku plays as the lone striker we going to have to expect players like Mata and Mkhitaryan behind him in the number 10 role. That means Pogba is going to get relegated to playing CDM alongside Hererra... That's going to stifle Pogba's attacking effectiveness

updated my post about the knock on effect. I think the 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation will definitely solve Lukaku and Pogba's problems, I'm keen to see if JM does go with that approach

WTF: Valencia kicks Saucedo from behind, gets a red card while Saucedo rakes Mata's ankles gets nothing?

I think Valencia was getting him back for raking/injuring Mata

I really hope Zlatan come back but nobody brings up the fact that when Zlatan did not play well we were terrible. This was obviously not his entire fault but he slowed down our play a lot because he never had the speed for balls over the top.

I like having all those attacking options and playing with 3 capable fast CB's like Bailley Lindelof and Rojo - could just work with those 3 but not sure with Smalling and Jones

I think it'll work with Bailley Lindelof and Smalling too. but never Jones Smalling and 1 other

Lindgard showing us what's his capable of - attack and defence

I hate loosing any match so always willing the players on..lol but yes, they seem to have gotten a good test ...

Perreira as a Holding MF - what do you think?

hehe ... i also hate losing a match .. but not so much the matches against Real Salt Lake ... and LA Galaxy .. although LAG was dirt poor ... would be better if we played tranmere ...

I have a problem in general with CDM, holding mid field position ... the idea in my head is of someone quite one-dimensional and i prefer a good CM that is versatile ... a good CDM must have positioning/vision, interceptions/breaking up play, tackling which are all natural i feel, rather than learned .. so hard for a naturally attacking CM like A Perreira ... other problem is that Pogba is so talented he can do it all so we use him there because we have no one else ... versatility in a player can be more of a curse than a blessing ..

I prefer herrera as the single holding player ... he is so good at it .. and would be even better if Lindelof becomes bailly 2.0 rather than those One dimensional jones and smalllings ..

Pretty sure lindgard going to get some time as a wingback ...

My ideal back 3 would be bailly lindelof (untested but why not) and Rojo .. and wouldn't mind blind as one of our cdm options .. if we can get Smalling 2015/2016 i would take it .. but yah, that would be a much slower passy passy game we'd be playing

Thats exactly my problem with Perreira playing there..he might not be given a fair showing and then we dont have him for the season. That being said, he may just use his passing and skill to good effect and combine it with some bite and then we have a quality box to box rather than a one dimensional CDM

In the last 2 games, he looks really good on the ball and can carry it out from defence whihch is a plus and all he needs is some good work ethic and more bite (which he seems to have). What made the United of old great was that talented players ran their asses off - if he can do the same, we dont need anyone else there with Him and Herrera

that would be the dream ... add carrick to that and we would be invincible :)

sorry, I just had to ... but yes, herrera ... perreira ... that would be a really nice combination .. although commentator's nightmare ..
and have some pogba a bit forward ..

what i didn't finish saying is that i don't mind losing to teams not in europe ... but yes, I'd say go all out for the win against city ... and the ones against our potential european opposition ..

Perisic deal.almost done according to sky sports. Inter wanting 48m I think we possibly settling on 40m + add ons.

27/8 your thoughts on him?
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ross the box as well. So not a bad fit for me

Havent seen too much of him but from what I have read and seen in terms of highlights - he is a nice direct winger, can take on players and likes to cross..I like those kind of players, reminds me of the days of old. In the new system, he will fit in nicely as he also has a god work rate and will run up and down. Players like Lukaku will thrive off the balls put in from the wing. Guys like MickhiT and co will pick up balls coming across the box as well. So not a bad fit for me

yes, it seems strange to say but a nice direct winger you must make space for ... if he can cross, and it suggests he can then our big guys in the middle .. martial/rashford/lukaku .. and hopefully zlatan will be able to plunder some goals .. with mata, mkhi and pogba feeding off clearances we might just be okay ...
