Yoro is 3 months? Damn. Guess another CB will really be a priority. If Martinez picks up an injury, we'd effectively be in the same position as last year.
 
Unfortunate loss on pens but don't think we played all that bad.

Personal opinion but think Rashford needs to be benched and we start Amad and Garnacho.
 
I don't think Ganarcho was fit enough - looking at the training video's this past week he was struggling to keep up with fellow returnee's - Martinez, Fernandes, Dalot and Mainoo -


Zirkzee looks fit, will take time to adjust to the EPL pace

That is just dumb... have the best right back defender that every winger hates going up against, sold to fellow top 6 league contenders team...

yes he did leak a couple of goals due to his inability to push up and return back to defend but when he was matched up against any attacker 1v1 he always came out top...

plus now Luke Shaw is injured AGAIN! FFS
 
AWB will do great at West Ham. One would assume they will be doing more defending this season but not so sure with us these days:)

That said, I don't think he is a RB for a top 4 team. He is a great 1v1 defender but not what we need for the direction we are hoping we want to go this season and going forward I rate. All the best to him

You can be thinking of going forward if we leaking 3-4 goals that matches the number we scoring or not scoring :D

Hopefully we can get more confidence with Martinez + De Ligt pairing than we did with Evans + Injury prone Varane/lindelof/maguire
 
Concerned about our attack - Rashford still crap... Sancho leading the line, while Zirkzee on the bench - we will see
Excited to see Amad/Pallestri on the right side with Martinez + De Ligt CB partnership, Dalot on right and new signing Mazraoui filling in on the left...

This leaves midfield with Manioo and Casimero (hopefully he has shaken off that rust from last season) behind Fernandes

I'm not sure why we sold the young left back Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica...

Now if United can just get this Urgate deal over the line I'd say we had the best transfer ever

Casemiro actually had a decent pre-season so yeah hopefully he can have those games -but yeah our mid is mid at best
Worried about defence and injuries as well as the attack clicking but excited about Amad and Pellistri's growth
 
Half-time, and the team looksl ike it needs more time on the training pitch.

He brought good energy

Defence was also good - Maguire and Martinez. Mazraoui also had a decent first game

I’m still confused by Mount and what he is supposed to do for us. Bruno had 3 or 4 good chances to score

Overall we’re lacking sharpness but 3pts it is
 
some positives for the upcoming season from this game - Zirkzee looks good and IMHO Mazraoui was one of the best players on the pitch - he hardly put a foot wrong in defending and he went forward far better and more often than Wan Bissaka - and since the community shield both Rashford and Garnacho are not playing a selfish game where they just want to be the hero and they are at least passing to each other - it remains to be seen if they will assist more for Zirkzee and Hojlund when he is fit - but if both those players lose their selfish streaks and play for the team to win instead of wanting to pad their own stats we can do pretty decently this season ..... i can even condone them missing easy sitters in the last two matches because they are trying to lose that selfish streak and from here if they continue with that style things can only get better .... and i hope that they don't revert back to last seasons default where Rashford played for Rashford and Garnacho played for Garnacho

the one sitter though that Garnacho missed where the keeper was beaten and all he had to do was tap it into an empty net and he hit it wide i just had to sit with my head in my hands :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :oops::eek: that was harder to miss than to score but Garnacho managed it - positive thing in that move was that it was an assist from Rashford that almost got us that goal
