Without any fanfare Standard Bank have release a Banking App on the Android Platform .... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sbsa.mobile&feature=search_result ... works on my Galaxy S3, app store says not compatible with my Galaxy Tab 10.1

Fail... "Network error occurred!" for just about everything. Tried over wifi as well as mobile network, several times since this morning.

It appears to use an Android native UI, and it's only a 2.4mb download. I'm sort of jealous.

I hope FNB takes note and puts some work into their Android app. Their underlying technology is good (geopayments are amazing!), but their UI design is incredibly crap.

Standard Bank took a while, but it was definitely worth the wait!

It's beautiful and an absolute joy to use. I login every two hours to have another look at it & then start to cry when I look at my balances.

I used the app once or twice and it seemed to work well, but I opened it this morning and immediately I started getting smses that payments were coming off of my account, within 5 minutes almost R20000 had been stolen out of my account. I immediately froze the account. I haven't had any confirmation from Standard bank yet that the App is insecure, but it was just too much of a coincidence that as soon as I opened the app my account started being debited.

I recommend that no one use the app until Standard Bank confirms that it's secure enough!!!
