I have finally bought my ps3.

Loving it so far :D

just a couple of things

my current software version is 3.41 and i know there is an update available. what i the latest software version? and do i need to update all previous versions before getting the latest version? eg: currently on 3.41 ( latest is 3.5) do i download 3.43 and then 3.44 and then do the latest update? or do i skip it and just download the latest software version?

also, do you recommend downloading it to pc or download straight to ps3? is there a difference?

what's the best setting, that those of you who have the Kinect, have found to work pretty well with it?

light room? dark room? light clothes or dark? clothes with stuff on them or plain colored shirts/shorts?

just finished a lekker session of the adventures, but 1. the thing kept moving the legs as if there was something in the way and 2. a reason why I stopped was because it started 'locking' the hands in front of the avatar as if I was holding my hands there.

now the clothes I was wearing was a blue'ish t-shirt with a grungy black image in the front, with brown pants coming to my knees.
the room was quite dark but I tried putting on the light but since it isn't a very "global" light it still had some areas being darker than others.

My experience is that it doesn't like direct sun in the room. I haven't yet tried different clothes but my wife was bopping in a dress to some Dance Central moves just now and I think she would score better if she had gym kit on. Hectic though if your'e not in shape.

Have fun!

hehehehe yeah definitely...

started from beginning on my actual Xbox Account and did the 3 basic and then 2 intermediate, but OMG all the jumping and arm swinging made me pant like a dog in heat :p

luckily I am not that unfit that doing most of the stuff I get sore the next day. my flies though hurt from all the arm lifting and jumping.

well I want to try either pure black or pure white clothes cause when I look at the FINE TUNING section where it shows those dark spots, wanna see if they change.

i find puting you light source behind the camera (so shining on the player not on the kinect) works best

I have a resident evil limited edition Xbox (red console), I have looked so well after the console but I am not keen on selling it, but on the other hand I want to buy a new Xbox because of the new design and for the kinect.

The other thing is if I want to sell it then I cant ask what the console is worth because of the new 4g Xbox console for just over R2000.

What would you guys suggest, Is there still people that is willing to buy elite Xbox consoles for more that R2500 (since this one is the limited edition)

I doubt it as all 'limited editions' of whatever (cars, games etc) are simply designed to con you into paying more upfront. Very seldom do these special ranges ever appreciate in value past their current life cycle.

Accept the loss and just buy the new kit. Pass on your old console to some less fortunate kid.

I was aware of a problem that people were complaining about Xbox Live for SA earlier and I don't know if it's the case now, but because of the high prices for the membership etc. and it looks like they are still higher in SA. So would you rather get SA membership and pay more or keep to the old US or international account and pay less?

it's about time they brought it down. However the Market Place and so forth is still poor in its selection ...

hi guys

is there anyone here that uses a 3G wireless N router here to play wirelessly??? if so, how does the setup work and do you require a Telkom landline as a back-up??

if i go and buy a wireless N 3G router, can i just plug in the router, plug in the 3G dongle, set everything up (without a telkom line connected) and be able to game with 3G over wireless??? any advice is much appreciated :)

yeah everything is pretty much plug and play. Also note if you gonna buy the router I would suggest a TP-link router (thye not necessarily the best) cos they the cheapest and more importantly the local distributors will will set if up for you to be plug and play and they really helpful post purchase. contact DBG. When I bought my setup I asked them to set everything before sending me the router and just pluged stuff in and it worked.

sounds awesome!!! will go and have a look at their options ;-) but my question remains...is 3G better for gaming i.e will your connection be faster for gaming or is it only browsing and downloading that benefits from the fast 3G ??? a friend of mine is currently gaming on 3G and he keeps on complaining about lag... he plays BFBC2 on PSN and i play on xbox with a 384kbps telkom line and have got minimum lag.... will it be better for me to do the switch???? is it worth it???

3g never beats adsl for gaming.

best for gaming:

Unshaped account Adls like webafrica 1 GB unshaped priority account.

See your friend probable has uncapped which lags as not a quality adsl line due to content ratios etc. Your friend should get a 1 GB gaming account for ADSL and switch between them depending on what his doing. gaming not about speed but ping and stability. I use CellC HSPA+ which has no0 lag but thier are times when it can spike badly. Whereas at a friends house with adsl its amazing.
