I honestly can't wait to port back to MTN, since porting myself and my wife to Vodacom...

-We've experienced poor voice quality
-numerous failled calls going straight to VoiceMail.
-calls breaking due to driving under bridges (admittedly this causes breakup on MTN but at least you retain the call)
-general call problems such as being greeted by silence when answering.

My folks were here for a week and they commented on the poor service as they're on V/Com and don't experience the same nonsense in PE, but Jhb and Pretoria are better left to the experts, having said that I've personally witnessed cases of being able to see a Vcom tower and have no signal!

So, if Vodacom thaught they'd win a customer by getting them to port... they just made a great big detractor out of me, my wife and my parents.

Now why ever did MTN drop the slogan 'The Better Connection', because it's still so valid.

Oh for the 12th of next month...

The network is solid.

Even when your phone shows 20% signal you still get perfect quality. Cell C you can be standing underneath the tower and it still sounds like you're talking to someone overseas! I'm almost certain Cell C carries the calls over second hand Thicknet equipment :D

Yeah I just left Vodacom after being with them for 6 years as there is virtually no signal at my work. I used to walk around holding my phone like a flare just to send an sms. With MTN now I have full signal.

Network

The reason for good network at MTN is because they use one network equipment supplier which is Ericsson, unlike VC which uses about 2 or 3 different suppliers.
