Climate scientists should stay out of politics, far, far away.

Or perhaps Politicians should stay away from scientific theory ;)

One of the major reasons for so many opposing theories on this one is that the Right wing conservatives say that the left wing is making too much of a scene about it! Those same conservatives then carry on about Climate Change as if we were trying to prove that the world was flat....one long and stupid political agenda whilst people dither about what to do.

The biggest reason is the oil companies make damn sure people have something to think about.

Don't think the oil okes are not driving on this whole are we doing or not :D

Yup both... both sides are using it for their own agendas.

If you want to do research on it, and the data is secret, you would have to pay me for access. If it is out there, people could be using it without you knowing.

It's about money.

This word just keeps on coming up in every sentence where Global Warming is being discussed. I wonder why...

Money funds research. If I have obtained data that I haven't analyzed properly, published results etc., I definitely wouldn't give it to the world either. It's no conspiracy, it's common sense.

Wait wait wait...

Are you saying that they are still researching Global Warming, and because of that (I'll assume it's inconclusive since they are still doing research) I have to pay for it?
Please can you explain to me where my emissions tax go when I pay R 12 000 on my Bakkie when I buy it?

That's cause the government wants more money, not cause of the climate. They just use that as an excuse so you won't moan so much.

Science is a never-ending quest, not something that can be 'settled' as some ignoramuses claim.

Jub Jub's pockets? The tax has nothing to do with AGW, it's simply the ANC's way of getting more money out of you :)

We're not the only people paying these taxes ;) It's being paid all over the world = Money making scheme.

...I don't mind the right wing making plankers of themselves in order to keep the left wing from trying to control all life. Even if they do get it wrong and sound like planks doing so. The left politicians should not be promoting policies in order to correct the climate (There current policies don't do anything in that respect), or at the very least, their current policies are disastrous, particularly to the poor and all I see is various special interests getting rich.

Thats why the left and right are alike, fleece the poor, use law to get special interests rich. The left it is the unions/greenies etc. and the right is big-pharma/agra and the military-industrial complex, it makes me sick.

Banning planting veggies and fruit in your garden at home, whilst lumping on carbon taxes. IT IS INSANE.

Growing stuff at home, means less fuel usage from big-agra, less going to shops, less packaging and plastic etc. If you are a greeny, you should be champioing this cause, but no...everything has to be regulated in case the poor sods hurt themselves gardening and growing carrots.

We've only been farming as a race for 10 000 years...completely absurd, both sides.

Just give people some freedom of choice, let the sciencists try and educate and promote policies, let people decide for themselves, don't let special interests get involved.

So say because e.g. we know that there's ice on the moon, we should just stop researching it? Have you really no clue how science works?
There's always more information needed.

He has absolutely know idea how science works. I remember in the one thread he was trying to prove the missing rib theory of the Bible. We all laughed.

Not so fast...

To add - NASA's own Gavin Schmidt on the whole hoopla: "If you want to do a story then write one pointing to the ridiculousness of people jumping onto every random press release as if well-established science gets dismissed on a dime."

An excellent article and I enjoyed what he had to say at the end..
If you simply accept what they say without doing due diligence, you may be led down a road that leads well away from reality.

% cloud cover, solar activity, # of active volcanoes, oceanic CO2 retention/release, rainforest CO2 retention has a MUCH BIGGER effect on planetary climate change than mere humans and our factories do.

climate alarmists = funny people.
thick as trickle, but funny.

believe the rubbish the IPCC tells you = Malema style intellect (Woodwork anyone?)
Poor Al Core has been embarrassed so many times but STILL they insist he's right.
eish.

Even the founder of Green Peace disagrees.
Man Made Global Warming is a politically inspired hoax.
more taxes anyone, carbon credits anyone?
