My contract is up for renewal in 2 months, but I am prepared to wait a bit.

I was planning on getting a HTC Tytn, but the Iphone has won me over. The higher resolution screen and generally better interface has done it for me.

I want one, how many organs would I have to sell to get one and where?

I wanna get it on contract. It doesn't matter what which network since they all screw us over about equally.

I just hope Itunes does not make me regret it.

Hi

The iPhone has a proprietry system in place that allows it to be used on a specific network. Currently you cannot buy an iPhone and then use it on Vodacom/CellC/MTNs network as you cannot activate it.

There are a few iPhones that are available for purchase here however they have no cellular capability and they have been cracked to be allowed to be used as an MP3 player.

Why would he be one of the few to regret it when 90% of the early iPhone buyers are "overwhelmingly happy"?

None of them owns a N95 I am sure, they are not used to anything else or better and are maybe rather Apple supporters to the core. Maybe 95% of that 95% own apple computers.:D

Apples in the kitchen, Lounge, Study and now in the pocket :D

PS: Piesang do but then he is an exception! :D Techy freak?

The 90% have cellphone functionality on their iPhone in the States because they have a service provider there, whereas in South Africa the cellphone functionality will be useless because of no service provoder (AT-T).Therefore it will be a fancy iPod.:D

Yes, and kudos for stating the obvious, but I dont think apple would ever bring the iPhone to SA without having a provider lined up. After all AT&T has exclusivity for the US and not worldwide. ;)

Why is everyone saying that!!! Am I lost?
Surely Apple will sell them to Vodafone group, and then Vodacom has access to sell them here....?

Right?

Well remember - the deal Apple has with AT&T is that they have to give apple a cut from every subscription as well as the money from the phone sales. I wouldnt be surprised if they were looking for the same arrangement outside of the US in return for exclusivity.
