Same problem!!!!! I cant get Jack S... out of 3 DIFFERENT broadband routers.... USB works ok... I spoke to helpdesk - and now are furious that "My settings are wrong!" After 3 months of stable connections, the settings MAGICALLY changed.

Still nothing....... after 2 hrs of screwing about with routers.

now wtf now?

wtf now?

is iburst going to reimburse me for my router? Are they going to buy me a copy of windows?

The only reason I use the router is so my connection is behind a hardware firewall and so i can hook my work laptop up to it too. I am the only person using that connection and not sharing it.

Gawd dammit !

Think about it !

How can they charge you for connecting more than one PC ? The more PC's you connect the quicker you use up your bandwidth .

I spoke to someone at WBS (03/11/2005 08H35) and they said off record that there was a security problem (hackers ?) and they were working on the authentication log on.

Just spoke to the helpdesk and gave them a piece of my mind. They are totally unaware of this. Charlton says that he spoke to 2nd level (whoever they are) and says that the bit in the faq just means that you will use your bandwidth up sooner so in all likelyhood it is going to cost you more - not thet you'll be charged upfront to use a router. I have now escalated the call as to why my router still cannot connect. I'm not very hopeful. Gawd dammit ! The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

I jsut spoke to the second level techies who are just as incompetent as the others. I spoke to Johan with someone next to him feeding him the information.

I enquired as to why from 12 yesterday I could not connect (authenticate) iburst on linux but immediately after i change it to windows and it works...

He responds saying that it is because of the base stations being down...

My Respones: "Mate are you actually listening to what I am saying... IT CONNECTS FINE WHEN USING WINDOWS BUT NOT LINUX, THE BASE STATION'S HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS"

He then rolls off a whole bunch of base stations that are down none of which were in my area...

He then says that they are too busy fixing the caching server that is causing the core network to be degraded.

WFT??!!?!?!?!

Anyway I am posting this from linux and it is thankfully connecting, but I understand now why the help desk is so crap cause they get fed crap from the 2nd level techies.

Bleh!
