Old Cape Town strip clubs - any memories ?

My best mate from from the US is visiting CPT. He’s not been here for a decade (used to visit almost monthly back then) and is a big “gentleman’s club” guy.

It got me thinking that they’re now mostly closed. Even with pre-covid I think they were on the way out ?

So any memories of the early 2000’s when it was so popular? The places, the characters , owners etc. all memories welcome

Wynberg Main Road... The toothless gums, the R20 specials... the syphilis.

Early Bird Seapoint year 1999/year 2000 start.... Shop right next to a whore house lol. Saturday mornings get to work to open up the shop and the hookers sitting on the pavement with their heads looking at the gutter below them. Just parking off and trying to recover. Nice looking white chicks with ****ed up hair and faces looking a bit tired from the jol that probably only ended an hour or so before.

Seapoint was a hectically good place to learn about life and all the people that inhabit it in those days I was there. Almost ****all crime.

Everyone just did their own thing without pissing anyone off.

Apparently, things have changed there now too .

I think they only offer glory holes at the moment due to social distancing during the pandemic

Then there was the ultimate gentlemen's club near Kraaifontein called The Ranch. No riff raff and eye watering entry fee.

A colleague of mine at the time was cheating on his wife with one of the strippers at The Cage. Basically all the used up strippers who couldn't get a job anywhere else landed up working there. Hole.

I remember that place.. some professors use to frequent fridays there when I was at Cape tech long long ago for a year. Apparently not the place to go to..(no clue, never went) as mentioned above it was/is the 2nd track strippers.

Awful place and aptly described as a hole. We went there once only for entertainment value after hearing of the grottiest place ever. I can't believe anyone would even touch one of those women.

I've been in many grotty places worldwide but the cage was something else.

That place still haunts me. I will never forget the night one girl shoved a cigarette up her special place, which smoked the bloody thing.

Another grotty place in Cape Town was the Catacombs in Bree Street. Most of our group's drinking was done in decent places like the Pickwick Tavern, Crow Bar, Elizabeth Hotel, Hout Bay Hotel, Foresters Arms, Stealers and others.

Occasionally we would seek some entertainment in low class joints like the Goodwood Hotel, Balmoral Hotel in Muizenberg, Southfield Hotel, Kimberly Hotel, Junction Hotel, Voortrekker Hotel, Metropole and several more. The protocol was to never be offensive to the locals and to know your place as a visitor.

With these kinds of joints mainly closed where do ladies of the night operate from these days?

The clientele still needs softening up with booze before they will start spending regrettable amounts of money so despite the internet making illicit hook-ups easier a bar venue is still a requirement?
