Has anyone ever gotten prosecuted and convicted for defending themselves? I think the police would look the other if you did snuff out these scum when they attack you. Well, you'd probably have to let them break a window before killing them though. And preferably not on video.

They get prosecuted and convicted because they do things that they think are acting in self defence.
You shouldn't be behaving in a way that relies on the police or prosecutor doing you a favour. You need to be defending yourself according to what the law says, even if you disagree with it. Your criminal trial for murdering someone who is attacking you isn't the place where those laws are going to be changed.

Exactly, everyone always think it will be someone else, even causing a scene and drawing attention to them is sometimes enough.
