They often don't run. Read about all the unusable ambulances and fire trucks and police cars backed up in service workshops for years. That is kind of the point.

Do you think the service intervals are adhered to? Do you think that if one car A has a broken X, and Car B has a broken Y, that X is not moved from B onto A to make it work? Do you think a mechanic isn't going to take part W to swap with a broken W to make some cash on the side? Do you think these workshops have trained mechanics and are using new parts?

Shame, did you think that toyota services all those bakkies? Do you think they book them in at BMW Sandton? L O L.

It's not that I think, I know. Also, it's okay if you do not know.
You're making your assumptions come across as fact, kinda idiotic  but anyway carry on with your ignorant self.

Classic. Funny that you came in before we even started talking about the servicing.

Another point, the seat bolsters would be ruined by the obese traffic 'officers' frames.
You're really below the pits hey, by the way bolsters wear out either way, slim or obese. And what's with the 'officers'?

I spoke to a service technician at BMW when I saw a score of blue light government BMW's in for service (my car was also in the workshop).

From what I was told, service intervals are often ignored, and cars have a VERY VERY hard life. Not their cars, so they dont care about them

ahahaha. Feel free to read all the news articles about it. Or try call a fire engine. Maybe all the ambulances are getting serviced at the dealerships too.

There is a tender out right now: SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF AUTOMOTIVE PARTS AND TOOLS TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3) YEARS: NATIONALLY.

Do you think BMW Sandton is in the running? L O L.

Thousands of state vehicles gathering dust

Meanwhile, more than 9,230 vehicles, including much needed ambulances and police vehicles, are gathering dust at hundreds of country’s private garages because of a huge backlog to fix them.

...entered into a five-year contract with Transit Solutions in 2014 to maintain more than 110,000 government vehicles.

This contract ends on March 31 2019, but the government hasn’t appointed a new service provider

Am suuuure those service intervals are being adhered to. The contract ended in March. Tender only closes later this month, then it has to be adjudicated and awarded and then the provider has to get started. Maybe another year? A year and a half with no services - even without an existing backlog. Would not touch one of these vehicles.

Who is the ass now? L O L

Yip - and you can bet that the blue light brigade cars are treated better than the normal bunch.

How did I know you would like that article  ?

You're being a troll

You're saying cars are not being serviced and I'm telling you (fact), that they are.

I often see police cars at BMW when my car goes in, I know my local dealership services a lot of them.

Child like thinking. A few blue light brigade and vip cars is not the whole force. Also, not regular or on time.

So, you are saying the backlog numbers (from a parliamentary question reply by the police) aren't true? Or that these garages don't exist? Or that the tender doesn't exist? Nearly 10 000 vehicles stuck! You must be so proud. They can't even appoint a provider on time! What a troll.

I doubt that the same police force that cannot even buy ammunition to keep their 'officers' firearms licenses current, and, by whose own admission, does not have a maintenance contract and a huge backlog would be doing a good enough job to make me even consider buying something that they touched.

Eish my guy, your thinking is really not sharp! Have you been to Silverton or any other garage? 10k vehicles? You're not obliged to buy anything, by the way.
With each reply you're just showing how stupid you are.
Anyway, have fun!

I know I am not obliged. So why are you so defensive when I say I want nothing to do with your circus? Do you have anything for me? Or are you just going to keep hinting at things despite me giving you parliamentary admissions of the failures? And you call me the troll.

10 000 vehicles gathering dust in workshops around the country. Can't even organise to buy ammunition. Can't appoint maintenance providers. Can't catch criminals to save your own lives. And you expect me to be believe you that you can take care of vehicles despite your minister admitting that you can't? Funny guy.

Here are some more:

Broken down trucks impede firefighting
Joburg currently has 7 operational fire engines - 7 out of 36 lol. Am sure a routine oil change is top of the priority list.

Maybe you should go tell the fire engines who well maintained they are so they unbreak down and can go put out fires in Kempton Park.

Here is a nice story from one of your professional garages where I would want a car serviced:
https://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/15-SAPS-employees-in-court-for-fraud-and-corruption-20150430
The accused are all linked to SAPS garages around the province and were alleged to have been stripping police vehicles and selling the parts to the public, said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.
Haha. Let me guess, hangwani is also making up stories to make himself look bad?

Silverton Depot? You should start by painting the roof if you want to brag about maintenance. I feel for the people who have to work there. Spray booth is discharging overspray directly to the atmosphere. No filtering. No proper workshop would be allowed to work like that. Ilegal and amateur.

The road markings have been painted by hand and are a complete joke. Let me guess, the provider hasn't been appointed so you can't make the letters the same size? I am sure the cars inside are being serviced professionally and that the BMWs are not been given the same oil as the hiluxes.

yeah, so I must only buy BMWs after 2015? Because there has been a huge turn around since then right? One day you can just strip vehicles, next they are doing a great job - despite the amatuer hour unfolding at Silverton. Shame, I hope those painters get respirators at least. Everyone else's lungs must be police vehicle white. Very professional!
