Not that simple. The policy may have exclusions. DO not pay out for Suicide for example. OR on the questionare you said no heart problems, but then you allready had 3 bypasses. No diabetes, but you are.
People lie on the questionare to get lower premiums. If you get caught out they have the right to refuse.
Not saying that is the case here, but there are numerous instances of this scenario.
Those exclusions don't really apply to funeral policies, life policies yes. They'll pay out on death irrespective of how you died or medical condition and you don't have to declare it.
Keep in mind in african culture people will insure themselves, direct family and a slew of extended family members as funerals are a big thing for them and insurance companies cater to this market. As the policyholder you don't know the details of these people and insurance companies don't want it either, all they want is name/surname/DOB and maybe sex.
Some possible reasons a funeral policy payout will be delayed or not paid out at all,
Outstanding documentation for claim.
Unnatural/accidental death awaiting police investigation.
DOB incorrect so they're older than what was claimed on the policy thus paying lower premiums.
Waiting period not reached yet.
Outstanding premiums & policy lapse
