"Older" Graphics Card

Hi

Could anybody please tell me where I would be able to find PCI or PCI-X graphics cards? I have a machine which only has standard PCI slots and two PCI-X slots. There are no AGP slots and no PCI-e slots on the mobo.

The machine is an IBM eServer 206, and has a pathetic ATI mobility chip onboard - not able to give crisp clear images at 1920x1200, which is the native resolution of my LCD screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

HI,you should be able to get them at any store really....
I just purchased a PCI5200 XFX card for R400 for one of my Linux machines.
Where are you in the country???That would help.

yeah, just browsed some local sites and there is nothing PCI anymore.

you will have to browse around some shops to see if they have any old cards lying around.

You could also consider one of the various Matrox cards - they still have a range of good PCI cards. Especially if you want to run high resolutions.

I guess it was a bit stupid of me not to include my location. I'm based in Cape Town.

It's just so weird... these are pretty decent machines, the IBM eServers, although they are nearly 2 years old now... 3.2GHz hyper threading with 2Gig RAM and 160 SATA HDD. Just no AGP or PCI-e. I see the new models (206m) come with PCI-e slots.

If anybody in or around CT could hook me up I would really appreciate it!

Yes, this pc will not be used for playing games.

Juggy, it would be great if you could send me some more specs on the cards.

I live in Blouberg Sands - very close.

All the specs are in the link that I posted, apart from that I have barely used the card myslf. I got it with a multimedia controller for adverts and such for plasma screens.
