 i call telkom now-now and request an upgrade to a 1 meg connection and you guys will never believe what happened.actually two things:
1) my phone was answered in < 10seconds,
2) after i hung up, literally after about 2 minutes, my line was disconnected, and when it synched again it was at 1152kbps! shock! horror!

must give props to telkom.
but wait! am i not supposed to be synching at 4meg? or is that the part that takes anything from a few hours to a coupla days?

Yes telkom can be quite efficient, depends on who actually assists you:>
Remember that the 4meg service is still in its pilot stages. And its an Upto4092 service, not a garanteed 4092. If its just been upgraded to 1meg i doubt they would have implemented the 4meg straight away. They would first have to test attenuation values before they change your synch rate. And remember you might be 2 far away to actually synch at 4092, so you would only synch at the highest possible value before your line cant synch anymore..

The 4Meg service sounds all so Kinky... but really - i desided to spend the money rather on an extra account so i could download more... so 384k will have to do : )

ha i knew it was too good to be true! it turns out that the reason my line was "upgraded" this morning was becoz they were only testing it. ok thats fine, but they friggin forgot to change my line back after testing, so it stopped working, so i ended up with no internet this whole day until now, when i had to call them and ask them what was wrong.
i take back my props. dang.

Exactly what happened to me. Although it took them about 3 workings days until it happened. Synced at 1152, but speed stayed the same. Then got cut off and about 4 - 5 hours on the phone in total i got my line reconnected 36 hours later at a downgraded speed of 384 (used to be 512)

Just when you think they are doing something incredible they manage to flip it around and screw you so vehemently that your head explodes and your mind recoils in horror.

Ja but one little checkbox in an application somewhere - for this they want to charge and arm and a leg - and take 3 months to get right.
