One investor lost R41 million in Africrypt's "hacked Bitcoin billions"

How did a someone with this much money make such a bad investment decision ? Crypto is already risky then you decide to add more risk by using a unknown investment platform, speechless.

My money is on this being a laundering operation. I can't imagine that there were any significant legitimate investments

Might be I head a layer speaking on the Money Show last week, he was representing 40 clients and all had invested more than a million so clearly a few people with lots of money

Aah, a body building, tribal tatted guy with ear plugs. Excuse be while I trip over myself deciding who to give a few million to. 2 19 year olds that 'speak well', or the tatted giant.

An Africrypt investor presentation paints Raees, the younger brother, as a prodigy. He was first introduced to Bitcoin in 2009 and started a business when he was 13 years old, it said. Africrypt invested capital “in a variety of cryptocurrencies which the parties have verbally discussed and understood,” according to a client contract.

this is ridiculous from what i gather this person is claiming in his presentation based on this above statement he was looking at BTC in its infancy ? when BTC was worth nothing really.

I wonder if his going to take the opportunity to also claim to be satoshi or have created the bitcoin protocol.

i am not sure where the figure of 69 000 btc came from but if we follow the address in the article

33HHUHRZ6W3Q5fjBEg6qMKup3tpaAvQgAr

according to global chain analytics platforms this is a luno wallet address. if they taking deposits in luno then we know for certain they obviously know nothing about the BTC protocol, otherwise they wouldn't be creating HOT wallets on exchanges.

it seems from
33HHUHRZ6W3Q5fjBEg6qMKup3tpaAvQgAr -> address
bc1qd2kx8pmpnvfx40rmgd483988jcasamm9xw326zlm4pwguv5drxfssc4c86

and then from there further, strange that from

bc1qd2kx8pmpnvfx40rmgd483988jcasamm9xw326zlm4pwguv5drxfssc4c86 you always have 2 distinct transactions of roughly the same amount in $ and BTC to -:

bc1qwfgdjyy95aay2686fn74h6a4nu9eev6np7q4fn204dkj3274frlqrskvx0
bc1qel7tps3wu6zqztaanczvt76hffwh7k06jd8r9xh2v3ztpa5ty5dsz358ys

anyways just some observations. would be interesting to see how the 69 000 btc came about.

Reports that two South African brothers, Raees and Ameer Cajee, skipped the country with an estimated R51 billion in bitcoin are "extraordinary", according to attorney Gerhard Botha.

Botha represents a group of investors which, at last count, had the largest combined claim against Africrypt at a total of R66,876,772.50.

The largest of these was Badaspex (Pty.) Ltd., which lodged a claim of over R41 million in its application to liquidate Africrypt on 19 April 2021.
More money than brains...clearly!

This Juan Meyer seems to be involved in or was involved in some questionable company names.

10% return on investment PER MONTH was the biggest warning sign. You'd have to be a hooded hadeda to fall for this...even if the seller was smoother than NDZ's shaven pooes.
