How do I get OneDrive for Business to stop syncing over a metered connection in Windows 8.1? Regular OneDrive has no issue and immediately halts syncing whenever it detects a configured metered connection.

It's the same app now. You should update your app.
Okay I have now updated the app and it is doing an initial sync again to the Cloud (about 5GB). It does not seem to stop syncing when I switch to a metered connection - I will let it finish and test thereafter.

Use local company file server. It is cheaper, more secure and restoration is much faster.
I don't know why people are so addicted to the cloud services.

Because it is cheaper on all fronts, with the exception of bandwidth. Security is relative for both Cloud and on-premise storage.

Do whatever you like. I posted it as your primary Internet connection is a "metered connection". It doesn't sound reasonable. IT people don't even think about cloud services without fast primary Internet connection AND secondary one for backup. If you think otherwise, I wish you luck...

You assume incorrectly. The primary connection is 1Gb/s. For some reason it keeps on syncing when moving to my LTE connection and does not pause automatically. I know this to be a problem on Windows 10 but not on Windows 8.1.

All right, I do apologize. Perhaps you should give Microsoft 4 or 5 years to fix bugs and for now revert to 8.1.

I eventually found time to log a support case with Microsoft after finding that, post my Windows 10 upgrade, the Onedrive App still does not respect Metered Connections. MS responded early this evening saying that "OneDrive does not recognize 'metered connections' on any device, not even cell phones. You will need to turn off the automatic upload and manually upload when you want documents saved"

I replied asking why the feature was removed - will revert when I receive feedback. Neglecting to pause uploads resulted in my Axxess bundle depleting in record time when the Laptop uploaded files via LTE...
