Largely the same specs as my OnePlus One, so it will have awesome performance. Shame it doesn't have the same battery and display size, but perfectly understandable considering how severely it would then cannibalise the OnePlus 2.

Lets be honest, for the price, this beats other mid-rangers silly. Pros are definately:

1. PRICE!
2. Fit and finish
3. Hardware/Specs
4. OxygenOS (close to pure android)
5. great camera for a $250 phone

I want one for sure! i'm guessing Zeekonline will stock it.... but at what price?

Zeek sells the OnePlus One 16GB [($299 from OP) $299 x 14 = R4186] for R5495

OPX goes for $250.... x 14 =.... R3500.....

theres some long division required but around R4500 would be totally worth it IMHO!

lets hope...

Well, I've been using my OnePlus device now for erm... all of two days, and I can honestly say it is nothing short of phenomenal.
If the X is anything like the OnePlus Two, it'll be an awesome handset at a great price.
I can also vouch for the awesome service I got from Zeek. Will use them again.

Just bear in mind what a slow and expensive process it will be if you damage it. I wouldn't recommend it tbh. I live in fear of something happening to my OnePlus One.

This looks shweet. I really like that these 'underdog' companies are doing so well overseas and even here.

It should give the Sammies a run for their money if the pricing is right and we get some local support from the stores for it

@bryn i get that that is a reality. but I'm fairly careful with my devices. by that i mean that i've never had to take a phone in for repairs - *touch wood*

like Wabbit says - there are fantastic, better priced alternatives to iphones and samsung galaxies out there... the trouble is getting them here.

its a real shame

The costs in bringing them here often isn't worth it when you consider the price of a phone locally unfortunately.

This is what it comes down to.

Sure there are folks who are willing to risk importing the devices themselves but your average man on the street would much rather go to their nearest cell shop and lap up the salesman's fluff than do research and buy a lesser known device with possibly superior features.

I applaud the suppliers who are bringing in devices like Orange and MobileIn Africa, but they lack the penetration and convenience that your average brick and mortar stores offer, not to mention the added headache that your might have when a device goes faulty and has to be returned to be repaired.

I myself have never bought a phone from overseas but I've also not really stuck to the mainstream brands as it were, besides my original Xperia X10 Mini. From there I jumped to an HTC Desire S back when 8ta had them on special for R998, then to the Moto G bought from Orange to my current Redmi Note 2 from Takealot.

And then there is the matter of lack of accessories...

Didn't even consider the lack of accessories! That's a massive issue as well. I don't have a cover for my Moto G 2nd Gen
