“There is no apparent threat to the land-based casino from interactive gambling,” trade and industry acting deputy director- general Fungai Sibanda told Parliament’s trade and industry committee this week.

 This coming from people who can't even keep a national lottery running

Sibanda stressed that person to person betting exchanges, as proposed by UK operator Betfair, [-]would not be introduced before research into its implications was finalised[/-] would not be introduced before government officials could work out a way to take their chop.

@ Mcsack: eheheheheh re thier chop!! troo

I also like the way the bricks and mortar guys said the online guys would "hurt" them... who says they shouldn't be hurt... oh what? their profits will go from being really really really really ridiculaous, to only really really really ridiculous.

I love betfair and think its a winning formula. Have made tons of money on there.. not really sure what all the fuss is about. I mean I live in SA and have been gambling on there for two / three years. I put money into my account and take money out. Okay, you can really load a lot of money on there. A friend of mine transferred like R50 000 into his betfair account and got a letter from the reserve bank... but I htink that was more exchange control based than gambling

Also, all i am really interested is that finally I MIGHT, depending on the contents of the new legislation, seace to be a criminal for playing poker online.....?

Believe you me, there's a lot of money being passed around the back when it comes to both land based and internet gambling.
