Online radio stats debacle takes a bizarre twist

NetDynamix spokesperson Hanz Stricker said:
“percentage wise, it is reasonable to assume that 90.2% of our traffic is tunnelled to the Flash Media Server. Whereas 9% is tunnelled to a node on our Shoutcast network.”

From Dewberry's report on the stats for the shoutcast server:
Ballz Visual Radio has a listener peak of 831 since the server was last restarted. 2Oceansviberadio has a listener peak of 122 since the server was last restarted.

Thus their peak listening now is: 8310 and 1220. Which is a very far cry from the 50000 and 60000 claimed.

If you're going to lie to cover up at least do the maths beforehand.

And the lies from NetDynamix continue... I'm gonna keep doing my best to spread the word about this.

Not sure what the issue is here....?
yeah they lied...everyone does...nando's vodacom cellc checkers...

from what i see they are getting publicity...I never knew about them?
yet here i am streaming from them today....lol

The eventual idea of the script has always been that it will, based on USERAGENT, direct the visitor right down to a specific player for his device which will in turn start playing without him first having to choose between some 10 different players.
Contradicts
A change is never rolled out to a platform such as Firefox or Internet Explorer but rather to a player link or player page on our player selector such as “WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER” or “FLASH PLAYER”

If you're detecting the USERAGENT, then you're discriminating between Firefox or Internet Explorer... so, I'm confused.

Eish... what a bunch of lunks.

I wonder what they use to count to potato on their session monitors?

Their fingers I guess... can't use their toes, feet spend too much time in their mouths.

The USERAGENT includes OS info, so it could be used to distinguish between IOS devices (no flash) and say Windows systems (flash), ignoring the browser bit completely.

no 'bizarre twist' here... just a smoke & mirror operation to cover up their ****ups

You probably find someone was asked to generate stats for the original interview and got them all stuffed up. Now they are trying to cover it up.
Either way ballz is getting free advertising and netdynamyx should have checked their facts before trying to go legal.

I'm no techy, but they just stated that their reasons for the changes had something to do with Windows phones and Windows tablets. Really? That's their argument for this incredible coincidence?

Not the case. NetDynamix have been submitting these bullschit statistics to a whole host of companies for some time now.

Funny how they coincidentally happen to incorrectly use the word "listeners" on all of their reports up until Shaun points it out. Funny how they anticipated Windows tablets and released a new standard for this (I still don't understand all of their response - it seems like mumbo-jumbo without ever saying much). Funny how their stats keep changing, as if they are completely inept at what they do...

And I now noticed the WMP page has changed again... Weird... Or not...

2OV should cut ties with these guys should the "audit" they requested confirm what seems to be the obvious. I don't care for Ballz.
