Recently decided to do some online shopping was quiet disappointed at my first experience. I was never aware of substitutes and they decided to change my order to their liking which was very disappointing and left a very a bad flavour in my mouth.

Ordered some dog food Bob martin instead of sending Bob Martin they decided to send Pick N Pay No Name dog food which is an insult to my dogs which they refuse to eat any PnP no name dog food. Decided to make the R75 delivery worth it cause they had Bob Martin on promotion R109 a bag, decided to purchase 10 bags as that will last me about 2 weeks and some bob tail dog food as well on promotion for R80 upon receiving my goodies was disappointed that they packed No Name dog food for all my orders which is an insult to me and my dogs. Human food its cool but playing with a dogs diet isn't cool then they fart too much!

They did delivery 5 bags of bob tail dog food instead of being charged R80, they charged me R110 was insulted immediately what a disgrace!

Their online order prices can be there for window dressing but once you receive the final price it's something else!

They should at least send email communication to the customer to inform them that certain items aren't available. R75 delivery is madness! Imagine paying R100 just for coca-cola cause other items weren't in stock..

Moral of the story go in person to the shops and buy dog food.

I thought I read someone here saying that you can say no substitutes via an option when you order.

Thats correct, if an item is not in stock they will call you and ask which substitute you would like if any.

I have been using pnp online for the last 4 years.

When I registered with PnP a while back, I'm almost sure that I saw that option too.
Never made use of the service as yet, just wanted to get a feel of what the experience was like while browsing and making a comparative shopping list.

I plan on using this service in the not too distant future.

I do know that there is an option for "no substitutes".

That is correct but things have changed at the time wasn't aware of the SUBSTITUTE option! Now you can custom your substitute for another product or select no substitute.

I will just go to the store and probably exchange it - I still want a refund on price difference at the time I was quoted R80, they decided to charge me R109 - their prices aren't up-to-date.

Hopefully Checkers can soon introduce online groceries! I was always under the impression it comes from a warehouse the orders you place online but unfortunately it comes from a specific store. There delivery vehicle was packed of goodies.

Goodluck with getting the refunds and did you use a credit card?

Most of the JHB northern suburbs get stock from woodmead and then it goes to satelite mr delivery stations.

Wouldnt mind using checkers for the ebucks.

Gosh the nerve of that PNP substituting things willy-nilly, insulting you and your dogs and all just because you didn't tick the right option. demand an apology!

an Apology is not good enough...

He should sue them for emotional distress and the insult of having to see NoName dog food on his property. The horror!

From what I have heard : PnP, terrible. Woolies, awesome.

We tried the woolies once and it worked out well. We had one substitution and they give you it at the lower cost.
We wanted some baby potatoes and they gave us the preprepared ones with garlic butter, at the cost of the stock ones.

We also got our vitality points and normal discounts.

I've had no issues with PnP.

PnP also no issues, Northgate delivered my order and they called me quite a few times when they were out of stock on some items never had a problem and I think the delivery fee is quite fair compared to driving there walking through the isles and also buying stuff that you really don't need but its on special, I save quite a bit using the home shopping option and don't have to worry about spending up to 2 hours in the shop. I normally order 2 extra Coke Buddy Bottles and give it to the delivery guys.

I haven't tried it. Would be useful for elderly or invalid people or people stuck at home, but I quite like being able to see the goods, tap the melons etc. Would consider it if I were ill or very busy.

2 Hours what do you do in the PnP? Max for me is 20 mins unless theres a queue as I know where everything is so its quick and easy also 2 mins away :D.

Well I take at least an hour because I go into a sort of a trance in the supermarket and wander around aimlessly, forgetting what I came to buy and instead buying all sorts of "special offers" that I don't even eat..

Finally PnP online phoned! Hooray the agony and torture! Who in there right mind substitutes dog food. I did however write them a love letter they weren't going to fetch the dog food at first but my love letter must have been strong in order for them to contact me back. Now

I don't want to ever see No Name dog food ever again on my property! My dogs looked at me weird (are you going to serve us this master) fortunate have 1 more bob martin back.

I should have actually taken them on with the double money back guarantee(if you not satisfied with this product) - clearly they wanted to move the stock off their shelves and give it to me. I noticed the new packets don't have the double back money back guarantee.

Imagine taken them up on that offer :) I could get my next delivery for free:) R85 - maybe someone from PnP read this forum and decided to escalate the matter further. .

Next stop will be woolies for online order - how much is the delivery charge ?
