Hi Guys

I've been running an online store for about a year now and buyers are not picking up. I had a couple of buyers and they all send me thank you notes about the excellent service they received and quick delivery, but nothing about what they interested in or would like to see on the site. I would appreciate some positive or negative (if you wish) comments about the layout, product prices, type of products or anything that online buyers would like to see.

Thank you in advance for your valuable feedback!

The company advertised in May and June issue of Computer Active and paid for it as well so I dont think I will use a forum to advertise. But thanks for your input.

Hi PearlJam
Can you be more specific on the error. I've refreshed my page from IE a couple of times and can't pick up any errors. Ive done the same now with firefox and still nothing.

cool :) i would really recommend looking at making a more simpler/modern skin...otherwise I would just say that you have been unlucky. Are you rated high on google?

OK , i've tried again and got in.

I'm no expert at web design, but i buy frequently;) I would suggest having little pictures / logos with all categories, ie Software only one pic comes up with the selection.

The prices for graphics cards are okay but not great, HDD seems very high.

I don't know if it is just me but i don't like to click on a "specials" tab and there is nothing

I also don't get the point with the question marks behind the names, etc. It leaves the question (no pun intended) wheather it is that brand or not.

Just my opinion

Yes most online shops are going for a more simple look. Have a look at www.incredible.co.za or www.amazon.com or even take a look at gmail. there is nothing loud about those sites. Just simple and smart. If you dont have access to a graphic designer i would recommend searching the net for skins

Thank you to everybody that has given such positive feedback. Looks like I'm in for a lot of work. The ? behind the name is a problem with the brandname with a registered trademark sign, because products are imported in mass the process messes up the special signs. Prices I'll have a look at and Specials taken out for now. Pictures I will sort out and cleaning up the site, I can see what ATI means (it's a bit cluttered).

it would be nice if the menu on the left expanded more
E.g. on the iol.co.za site i can click on Sport than Rugby and get straight to rugby without having the delay of the sport home page loading first. So it would be easier and quicker if someone is trying to find a specific component.. to get to power supplies takes 3 clicks with delays after each click, leaves me not wanting to looking for something else.

The ? is because the data entered into your database goes in as a special character but comes out as a ?. This has to do with UTF encoding. I suggest setting your page to UTF-8 encoding which should display everything from within the updated database correctly.

Thanks Xcleric42 and killadoob
Killadoob - Thank you for your input. I realise I'm no web designer and I thought my site looked okay, but maybe the other guys have a point. Let me make the changes and see how it pans out.
Xcleric - Something I was thinking about last weekend maybe you just convinced me. Afterall you need a site that is easy to navigate.

Just my opinion. I go looking for a CRT monitor. I get a page with tiny little brand names in one-point font. I'd prefer logos or bigger text - SELL TO ME! I click on HP. I get one model, no pic, no "these are my main features" showing. I work out how to click on the link to see more. Zip extra info, naathing! No pic. Link to a "larger image" from no image. Click link. Get tiny little popup showing your hits today counter thingy. No pic of HP CRT. So, no pic, so I can't see if it is ugly; no info, so I can't see its specifications ( bugger going Googling for this! ). Consequence - no interest in buying.
