Only 2% of hijackers in South Africa convicted

Crime in South Africa is out of control, and the situation is aggravated by the very low conviction rate of serious crime in the country.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) recently released its crime stats for the 2018/19 period, which showed an increase in serious crimes like murder, robbery, and sexual offences.

That is a poor researched and a poor written article though, it would have been nice if there was a source then one would try and make sense of the stats.

No surprises here. If you get rid of the qualified, experienced, educated and effective staff, then this is inevitable. A person does not suddenly become competent when appointed into a position. Unfortunately.

Our New South African brethren - are believers in Free/Mahala/Verniet. The believe they are entitled to what ever they want. I have no idea where or how they recieved this entitlement - or who or what they expect to support their state of entitlement.

I don't know about the others but I like you, I have therefore chosen you as my preferred state of entitlement supporter. Hopefully you were not planning on going anywhere anytime soon.

Sorry mate, but I am already supporting a Foster child, and the extras that come with that, so sorry, you will have to look for another free ride, this one is already full, and then some :)

So reading this article, and reading about the crime statistics has really had me thinking about if it is even worth opening a police case if one is not going to go any further than the piece of paper it's written on (if not getting lost eventually).
My son and family friend were attacked this weekend when cycling. Stabbed multiple times with friend needing surgery and son multiple stitches. They put up a fight and nothing was stolen.
So should it even be reported? Put the child thru more trauma reporting it and IF the police catch these scum, have him go thru reliving the ordeal in court with very good chance of them getting off; or just thank God they are alive and carry on with life?

Everybody has rights these days. You rape and kill a child or old lady and you have rights. You take that which does not belong to you and you have rights. You kill a political figure and will never get out of prison ever but you rape a child and get live with parole in 10 or less. Too much is done to prove some senseless point. Bring back the death penalty. You rape at dawn and get hung at sunrise, problem solved. You infringe on anybodies human rights and you forfeit yours, problem solved. You steal and ALL your possessions are confiscated to recoupe stolen value and cost to tax payer, problem solved. WTF is so difficult about that. Crime stats goes down, prisons are less crowded and focus is on rehabilitating criminals that can be rehabilitated .

The death penalty will make criminals MORE likely to kill YOU to get away.

Police are monitored by the crime stats.
Hopefully something might be done as your incident could be the 4th/5th.

If you don't report it nothing will be done.
