So I became a victim :(
Even though I'm in WiFi covered area's for 23hours of the day. Add additional data bundles and monitor my spending.. This still happens.

Apparently Vodacom also disabled my call limit on upgrade (don't bother checking this isn't mention anywhere in the contract terms or the call limit terms either)

They unfortunately also won't provide session data to show me when this phantom data was used but replied to me happily that the data was actually used.

Just cancelled one contract with them and the others will be removed hopefully before year end, even if I have to pay out of my a$$ to get passed this kind of service.

Thought someone had finally attacked the OOB Shark. I leave, disappointed.

Using weather widget on android.

For some reason it decided to slurp about 80Mb's of data off my pre-alloted 100Mb for the month.

Wasn't impressed when I started to receive SMS'es that my bandwidth allocation was running low. Luckily I could locate and [-]neutralize[/-]limit the rogue app to wifi only, before I purchased a new data bundle.

What data billing increment does vodacom use? And is their a minimum charge per session like MTN? MTN's min charge is R0.02 ex VAT per session regardless of the 1kb increment...

A while back there was a situation where Vodacom could verify that some politician did in fact use an official cellphone or device to surf porn. How could they do that, but not tell you what you used your data for?

Escalated it once again and will see what they come back with. Consultant said very frankly that because they looked at my previous query the chances of them even looking at the escalation is slim.
Thread title fixed.

Think I must get you a KFC card with all the titles you help me with uncle Ook :)

Nasty very nasty.

Had same thing happen to my daughter - was eventually resolved to satisfaction - they converted the OOB to a data bundle, so I still paid but not at the exorbitant rate.

There is a thread somewhere around here...

Let me look around. They don't seem very helpful to be honest.

Oh they can indeed see. They usually deny being able to see this though.

I had an issue last year where my phone maxed out on 3G the whole time, and they pinned it down to Android updates. They were able to tell me exactly what it was doing.

Yeah I saw something similar, they "exactly" know what your doing. It's kinda scary.
