I sat in a friend's new Vivo recently. Felt like I'd been transported back 10 years. I wonder how long VWSA will continue selling this heap. The sales figures are mind boggling.

Nothing new.
South Africans have shown we are completely retarded when we were still buying brand new VW city's up until a few years ago.

Heh yeah, that was very bad!

I could swear I heard something about them bringing in the up next year though... Can't be arsed to actually go googling at the moment though

Vivo is a horrible car but VWSA will keep on selling it because they make a fortune from it. They have the plant to build it and they will squeeze every bit of life out of it. Just look at what they did with the Shciti Golf.

Sales figures is because VW is the sheeples car.

The Mokka could do quite well if it is priced correctly.
The adam looks like a smaller, uglier corsa.

They just need some proper dual clutch, semi-auto type gearboxes in their line-up... Only the Astra sedan is offered with an auto box. Why?

Yup pretty much no automatics in SA, forget about dual clutch.

Main reason I didn't even bother test driving.

Would be awesome if they also bring in the Adam OPC once it goes into production, it will annihilate Polos, Golfs, S1s and S3s.

How do you figure that?

I don't think an OPC has ever beat an equivalent car from other makes. The 206KW Golf 7R is about two levels above the 206KW Astra OPC

Same can be said for Ford. But as of late they build AMAZING CARS!

That being said, Japanese motors are still best of them all. My Mitsubishi Colt has close to 300k on the clock and not one single fault. Apart from how thirsty it is. O and I needed to change the voltage regulator on the alternator about 2 weeks back.

Are they really reliable? I have been eyeing a lancer, but a bit scared of buying one, not sure on parts availability etc

A slight necro, but I spied a new Opel Mokka today in town and it is quite a looker in the flesh.

I wasn't expecting much judging from the photos off the web but they don't seem to do it justice. Seeing the horizontal lightning bolt on an SUV was definitely a head-turner.

I think Opel might just have a winner on their hands if they market it well for SA needs :)

If they can price it right. With GMSA positioning Opel as a more premium option above Chevrolet it remains to be seen if they can make it affordable enough to win over buyers. As for the looks, yes it looks good, can't wait to see the OPC version.
