With 41 000km on the clock. A 2005 model. My mom and dad is planning to buy themselves a second small car.

And it is in a spotless condition (my mother inspected it + a family member who is quite savvy, mechanically).

Is this a fair price?

A 2 year warranty is an optional extra for R8000 plus registration and such might push the price up to just under R100 000.

price sounds fair enough, imo.

unsure about the service intervals for the diesel, but if its evey 15k, try and get the garage to another service before you buy (free of charge). make sure you check the clutch and the electronics as those, on the petrol versions, are common 1st faults.

maybe also go check on the opel owners forums, as there would be more knowledge on the subject

mostly all turbo diesels service intervals are 10K, it seems alright but people here don't have a clue how to drive diesel's. they drive them as if they were petrols an wonder why they fry turbo's and injectors.. if i got a diesel i would only buy it new IMO

IMHO

Get an Audi Tdi. Had ours for 5 years no problems whatsoever. Gets 5 to 6 L per 100 km at 120 to 130 km/h.

If you can, as with all diesel cars, check the history of what diesel was used.

500pm diesel is a joke and should only be used on a farm....

50ppm is the good stuff

But I wouldn't buy any Opel now and kinda maybe be in the same position as Seat owners.

Opel is going through a very bad time. If things goes wrong the value of Opel cars wont be so lekke...

For Opel I am pretty sure it is 7500Km.
This would be a royal pain in the butt if you use the car a lot.

Never owned a diesel Corsa, but nothing wrong with the petrol models.

R 90 000 for a four year old "little" car sounds bloody high to me!

Hey Picard

I drive a Corsa bakkie 2005 1.7DTI... Back then I paid R135,000.00 For a new model.. Now its currently worth R65,000-R60,000.

(With 65000km on the clock.) So the price of the vehicle sound not to bad since it has only 40k on the clock.. I'd suggest you must look around a bit further for a better deal? I'm sure the price on 40000km car would rather be around R70,000 R78,000.

IMO I think the price is a bit to hectic for that amount since its a 2005 model..

Yes Diesel service intervals are every 15000km, and service costs is R2200.00
per service. That includes checking of engine, new oil, new filter etc your basic stuff. And Major service aint that bad its between R3000 and R5500.

Hope this helps.

i drive a opel corsa 1.7dti classic elegnce sedan. its the most wonderfull car, service intervals is every 15 000 km, it costs round about R 850.00 a service "small services" major service intervals is only every 60 000km and costs between R1 500.00 and R 2 500.00. minor services includes the following:
oil change
oil filter change
diesel filter change
diesel heating filter change
retuning with the tech-2 computer system.

major service includes the following:

oil change
oil filter change
cooling system flush and refil
diesel filter change
diesel heating filter change
fan belt change
timming belt change
brake pad change
wheel bearing change "120 000 km and 240 000km"

the price is all good!! i drive a 2003 model, it has 204 000km +/- on the clock and ever since i shopped it from centurion delta i never had a days problems with it. it starts in icy cold weather just as easily as it does on a hot summers day, it drives particularly good "has that BIG car feel to it" it does 140 km/h with a smile
up or down hill, no gear change required. 0 - 100 km/h in just 13.35 seconds "very good for such a small Diesel engine" peak power at 3400rpm and peak torque at a mere 1800rpm. boost presure is at 1.5 - 2 bar on the turbo witch gives you loads of power when needed." kicks a volvo S40 2L's arse with a SMILE" and then the best part of it all aswell as every ones greatest consern, FUEL CONSUMPTION mine gives me between 19.5 km and 22.5 km per litre of diesel "depending on my driving mood" normally between 80km/h and 120km/h and on very hectic days 80km/h to 140km/h
point i'm trying to make is, this car is one of the best cars if not the best in it's class, does not dissapoint at all. for R 90 000.00 you get the following.
airconditioning, bloody good sound system, electronic power steering (EPS), electronic brake displacement (EBD) antilock brake system (ABS), 4 airbags, electric windows, leather interior, electrically heated seats, central locking, parking assistance, alarm immobaliser, remote boot opener, electrically heated rear view mirror, defogger. the only thing missing in the sedan is the front bumper spots. "sad but true" my friend from varcity drives an opel corsa lite, at the time i was looking for a car he recomended that i should buy a corsa, i never liked any general motors poroduct untill i got my car, i firstly wanted to buy a audi 1.9tdi, so i popped into a GM garage on my buddy's request just to test drive a corsa, i did not like the hatch because its to small so the sales person suggested that i should have a look at the sedan, i got into the sedan 1.8i took it for a drive and liked it a lot, the only down side of the petrol models is that it does not have half of the diesels features, i got back to the garage and saw the 1.7DTI sedan standing one side in the corner, i asked the guy "how's the diesel" he replied "top of the range sir, best equiped, most economical and as you would expect the most expensive" price came in at a full R 234 589.00 witch for a corsa is hellishly expensive. so i took it for a test drive and half a hour later orderd mine, i enjoy comfort so i asked the guy for a fullhouse car, my exact words " John, if im buying a corsa from your floor today, i want everything done to it that can possibly be done to it, everything must be automated to the last bit, and dont sell me crap, i want value for my money" his exact words "sir i can guarantee you only the best, as a standard the diesel pritty much meet your expectations, the only thing whe need to put into the car is the automated boot opener and the seat heating, further on every thing you want is there" needles to say is that from the day i got my car i did not have a minutes regret that i baught it, and i would strongly recomend anyone to buy one. the secret of the sedan is that you get 5kw more than you get in the utility and the hatch with the same economy. one thing to keep in mind!!!! always make sure to take your car for the services as set out by GM not doing so could cost you dearly. a randon question i asked when i baught the car having learnt a very expensive lesson from my toyota runX is, how much would repairs cost if the corsa's timing belt broke? R 55 000.00 labour excluded R64 000.00 all inclusive "engine needs replacing if that happens" so if you decide to buy this corsa, feel free to do so, keep your hand on it and take care of it as a person shoud take care of a car and it will most definately never let you down.!!! mine has been all over S.A, Botswana and Namibia and as i said, in all of the 204 000km that it drove i never even had to replace a light bulb, and i will drive it for another 300 000km without any problems. car scores 10/10
regards
Neill
