Hi all,

Just finished my installation with OpenServe, but was not available to ask questions. They left a white Huawei box (sorry, not sure of the name?) at which the fibre optic cable terminates. They also left an Alcatel Lucent ONT although nothing to connect the two. My questions:

  • is it standard/required to use the Alcatel?
  • if not, is it be better to find a fibre enabled router?
  • is there any loss of control or performance by just hooking up my old router to the Alcatel?

Much appreciated.

Hello

The hauwei box connects into the alcatel lucent ONT. Then you can use any router with a wan port connected to the alcatel ONT on port 1 and your pppoe should auth
