Guys is it true that Openserve said they will roll out FTTH across SA this financial year?
Am interested in details of this rumor like is it one financial year plan only or is like Vodacom/MTN annual investment, I noticed yes Openserve seems to be expanding FTTH footprint to more small towns since festive season.
I'm curious to know if Openserve plan to replace all copper infrastructure in small towns before 2024

That would be awesome, as there is still many towns that has active copper infrastructure available to be used as Pure Connect DSL. This will eventually fall away and be replaced by FTTH from Openserve. Many people including my parents in Great Brakriver will switch over from Just DSL to FTTH when Openserve infrastructure are available. I A small town such as Dana Bay next to Mosselbay not far from Great Brakriver already has active Openserve Fiber. I would surely use Openserve fiber as they are cheaper and offers free installation and connection. Only option in my town are Vuma at the moment.

This is a brilliant move IMO. It does suggest that there are people living in fibre'd up neighbourhoods who haven't switched... To be honest, my experience with Vumatel was sucky - their installers are atrocious and not skilled... hopefully Openserve is better.

Eish!!

No fiber so no use ...

ADSL or LTE ... , only options
Same here, stuck with expensive Vuma for now. Openserve fiber offers free installation and connection and ISP prices on Openserve are way cheaper than Vuma. (R1725.00 installation fee - really ridiculous) Not many people have switched to Vuma fiber because of the installation fee. Hoping Openserve will roll out FTTH in my town soon and offer more competition here. Vuma has the monopoly and the attitude of "use us or leave it".

Well it has been 12 + years that I have been just under 300 meters from fiber. It has not come any closer since then.

Vuma has too many restrictions the last time I checked, besides being ridiculously more expensive.

Openserve seems to be cheapest and you can use virtually any ISP that operates in the country. Not that I am enamored with Telkom. But they seem to be the better more flexible choice.

@Frogfoot Fibre
Why don't you follow Telkom's lead & have a similar promo?

You guys have already put a fibre line into our house (as part of a cluster of homes done last year), but no ONT / router yet, so ready & willing to try it out for a month.

I should maybe consider this offer to move away from Vumatel, there seems to be a fibre break almost monthly.

It's a great offer. No payment details required. Simply signup on the Website or App and get your OPS order via email. Arrange installation and once completed the activation takes place and your 30 days start.

After 30 days contact the ISP you want to migrate to or if you are not convinced your are not forced to continue the service.

Just cannot make use of it, as there is no fiber in our street, tho 1 street down, they have fiber. :(
