Hi - How do I get in touch with a technical person at OpenServe?

The complex I live it recently had a blocked sewage pipe, and upon inspection (via inspection using cameras) to find the reason, it was noted that Open Serve apparently installed the Fibre in the complex via the main sewage pipe which is now causing the pipe to be blocked.

The complex is having to dig out and replace 35 meter of sewage pipeline, and the fear is in the process the Fibre Network may be damaged.

How do I get OpenServe to play their part during this process?

They want to - but who to contact? The Telkom helpdesk will be interesting to deal with in this shitty scenario....

Resign yourself to NO Internet until the shitty situation resolves itself.
Your BC must have agreed to this at the time.
Your problem to resolve.
Dig up the pipe and install a separate duct for the fibre cable at the same time as the repair done to the sewerage line and then get OS to draw in a new fibre cable into the new duct as supplied by yourselves.

EXACTLY as many of us old-timers predicted would happen when the proposals of using the sewers as a conduit for fibre!
It would be very interesting if you could post some pics taken with the cameras of what the problem is.
Cables "never" run absolutely straight in ducts, even when installed 100% correctly by experienced cable personnel, let alone the incompetents that do the job these days.
There is just about always a section where the cable will spiral or loop or have a twist somewhere.
one stupid resident who throws in a disposable nappy and you are in major trouble.

BTW, why did you choose to make use of an upmarket plumber with fancy cameras to inspect the sewer? Surely, Th BCknew about the fibre cable?

Those plumbers are asking a call out fee of R 1000 for the first hour as a flat rate, plus R 800 per hour or part thereof thereafter.

OS never took the shortcut, it is the complexes BC that took that decision.

BC changed...and now the sh$t from the previous BC is hitting the new BC in the face.
Choose a surveillance team as no-one even knew the Fibre was in the sewer pipes, and could not figure out why the drain kept clogging up...the camera revealed it all....

Must admit hat even though the sewage moves slow...the Fibre moves fast :)

Who the heck would think that using the sewer pipe as a place to run a fibre cable would be a good idea in the first place. Frikken idiots.

Not sure how it caused an issue as the main fibre isnt that large in diameter (~5 CM) the sewer pipe should be at least 30 CM or more.

Very true...but then the cable should be pulled in without slack...not the case here it seems, as the
cable is all tangled up...
