It is called incompetence.
I have watched the "contractors" at work break every basic construction method of cable laying and drawing in our area. And under absolutely no supervision. the way they do it a 100mm pipe run will only ever have in single 24 core fibre cable drawn in. The very first time an overdraw is attempted, the existing cable will be ripped out.
It is absolutely pathetic to have to watch how unbelievably incompetent the telecoms industries have become.
And I won't even comment on the splicing quality that is currently supposedly acceptable for FTTH networks.

Don't know how much help this would be, but needed help with Openserve a few months ago at work. Contacting Telkom (our Openserve ISP) was a complete waste of time as expected. Couldn't find contact details for Openserve so contacted them directly by sending a DM to them on Twitter. That got things sorted pretty quick. Can also call them out publicly on Twitter and get everyone in your complex who have Twitter accounts to retweet. That can also help.

You are right - I have used twitter in the past and continue todo so when talking with OpenServe and Telkom. For now that have acknowledged my plea for help...but no voice contact made yet...

My one friend does splicing & new installs. He also gets a lot of calls from people that had fibre installs done by other companies that ended up being problematic and of poor quality. He point blank refuses to do quick fixes but he'll pretty much redo the job as it's quicker and he'll give you a warranty on his work as long as no other clowns stick their fingers in there. He's an ex telkom guy that knows how to operate a fujikura...

The Chinese crew that operated in our area knew only one English phrase about the splicing and testing, and that was "Good Enough, Good Enough". We would have rejected the work done in 1981, when fibre technologies were in their infancy and splicing was a really difficult task.
And then Telkom wants me to drop my ADSL service, charge me more, for a service I know is not going to deliver!

Is he allowed to work on OpenServe networks? Would be interested in talk to him. Where is he based?

I blame the stupid residents that throw all kinds of crap (excuse the pun) down the sewer lines.
We are dealing with it all the time in our suburb.
Everything from nappies, baby wipes and sanitary pads to carpets, jerseys and building material.
People just have no clue what it does to the sewer lines.

Well, I got made an offer by Telkom that I could no longer refuse. A 10/5 fibre connection installed free for R 463 per month.

I will now see first hand what sort of work they do when installing the connection as a replacement for my Cu connection. I pulled in a pipe in the roof from the nearest point to the incoming line and my study for them to pull in the fibre. Was NOT going to let them dictate where the ONT would be installed.
