Don't allow them access to the pole on your property unless they agree to connect you.

They haven't pitched yet...

But there's my daughter's sign on the tree to tell them to come around the corner..

If they have not pitched by now them they not gonna arrive today. They did my fibre install yesterday and it only took them 2hrs which included pulling in a underground fibre from the manhole, only problem is I'm still on my old 2mbs ISP profile by the looks of things :D

Wow that would frustrate me to no end.
Its ok when its too far away to bother but when its available and a minor technicality like that gets in the way...

He's pretty much finished but just has to come back tomorrow to let the guy's configure it from the other side.

Well he's a private contractor working for Openserve, so I'm sure he's always on "overtime" :whistling:
And he had to knock off because the guys in the OpenServe control room on the other side knocked off at 5pm.

Ok, so that guy is finished now and told me that OpenServe is connected on the other end.
He gave me a code to give to my ISP (Axxess) for them to configure their services.

So now my question is...

Can I hook this Huawei GPON Terminal (EchoLife HG8240H) straight into my network, or does it have to go through a Fibre Router first (Which I don't have yet)?

You can dial the PPPoE session from a PC until you get the EWAN router.

As Far as I know that won't work. You can use any router that allows pppoe authentication over wan like Huawei B315 LTE router or something similar.

I stand to be corrected though but that is basically how it works so you can use any ISP by simply changing the username and password like adsl.

Ohh yeah that can work too but obviously won't have wifi and stuff like that and internet only on the pc that dials the connection.

It's a mission but dial it on the PC, if the PC had another Ethernet Port, share the dialed connection with that and you could distribute back into your network or better yet get a WAN router

The yellow thin cable goes from PON to Telkom supplied router.

Ethernet cable from Openserve /Telkom supplied router to your router.

If supplied router not on place or not active then you're stuck.
