Good Day All

We have a VPN running on OpenVPN to connect to office network (running on uncapped 512k IS account). When connecting via iBurst or ADSL, VPN works perfectly.

However, VPN connection fails when using MTN Broadband @ 1.8Mbps (using myMTN or internet APN does not help)

Anybody has any experience with this using OpenVPN and MTN Broadband.

On Vodacom, I see that you have to dial 082155 to make sure you are connected to internetvpn APN.

Thanks

Hi
This can be done on mtn also but you cant use the public APN's i.e. myMTN or internet. You need to use mtnvpn.co.za
By default the numbers will not be provisioned for this but if you PM me the numbers I can get them provisioned. There is no additional cost for this.

Hi
Its already done :D , lets just say I work fast. It is provisioned, just make sure you request for mtnvpn.co.za when connecting. Restart your device before you attempt it ok. Let me know if it works

Just about to test. Is the following correct (using FastLink DataCard Settings Menu):
1. APN set to mtnvpn.co.za
2. IP settings tab -Dynamic
3. Authentication set to CHAP with Dynamic tabs ticked

Hi Dr_Data

Changed to mtnvpn.co.za APN

I get an Connection Failed - 619 error. Is the username:MTN and password:123 correct? Don't know what the pw is as card was set up for me in MTNSP store

Or is number provisioning on MTN still in progress?

Thanks again

Hi
The provisioning has gone through. There is no username and password that needs to be entered as no authentication is required.

You sure you entered mtnvpn.co.za as the APN?

I tried MTNVPN as the APN and I could connect. However, OpenVPN still fails (using port 2000 to connect). Is the APN (mtnvpn.co.za) that you gave me correct?
Is this APN NATed? Our VPN server sits on an IS 512kB DSL line

Hi
Apologies for that. I have not used the APN in a while. I just confirmed now. Its just MTNVPN :D.
What errors do you encounter?

Hi
I just confirmed now it is not NATed as per support. The range is 196.13.229.0/25, maybe that might help.

Hi DD
I have not been able to coonect on the MTNVPN APN. However, yesterday I was able to get an OPENVPN connection on the normal myMTN APN.

Our ISP hs checked the OPENVPN config script and can find no errors in the connection. When connected via myMTN or MTNVPN, I am able to ping (286ms average) and tracert succesfully , but no OPENVPN connection.

Any other suggestions on what I can do?
TJ
