i just read more scene notices, it turns out centropy got hit hard, thier leaders were busted, the scene is buzzing, anyone with access to pre db's check out the notices that are flying around.

what makes this weird is after centropy were busted (they are basically the top movie release group for new theatrical releases) they released Herbie.Fully.Loaded.SVCD.TS-Centropy which has a pre time of 2:26PM CET (our time too) on june 30

I have heard rumors of an actual life ending during these busts. I don't want to say any additional info because I can't really verify it further, but if such is the case then today is an even sadder day.

i just spoke to someone who was on that FBI site run by griffen (the site called chud had been operating for years the whole time by the FBI)

Also BitTorrent tracker Empornium was shut down by the FBI raid

they only got cartel (leader) and a few members but alot of the ctp (centropy) members are still loose and that's why herbie was released today after the raids

it looks like this string of busts is going to be the largest since the now infamous DoD (drink or die, and old cracking group who basically ruled for 10 years and were/are known for being the top group ever who's members are still in jail (some of them anyway) back in 2000/2001

a canadian site GYE got a tip off they were to be raided and disbanded the site, apparantly the siteop is next on the FBI list

Wow, I can't wait for the book Seriously now, it would be a great story to read, how the FBI infiltrated the Scene, the setup, bust etc, with interviews with the siteops, members etc. I just wonder, don't you guys think that new servers will just be set up by guys that slipped away anyway? And maybe move to east-block countries etc? Hacking and cracking were part of the computer scene right from the start of computing (If I remember correctly even Bill Gates did a bit of dumpster diving in his day ), and will always be with us.

well the sites werent really a target, it was the groups, but theres lots of groups and lots of sites anyways and no slaves from the sites that got busted will join new site rings and make even larger sites, US sites have always been risky but asian sites have always been pretty safe and larger too on faster backbones
