I did not tell the owner to fire him, I complained to the owner in other words.
I remember telling him about the bad treatment specifically by the doorman and asking if I had to make a reservation for better service etc etc.. he said Ill sort it out and hung up.
I went for a smoke, came back and his apron was on the wooden thingy*

*Clue

I stood infront of him, called the owner in JHB, got the door man fired on the spot. (I know people)

I know people... pulling strings.

Dude if you're going to make up a story at least keep the story consistent.

(please don't take offence, I understand that you know people, please don't call up Jacob Zuma and get my citizenship revoked on the spot ... or after a smoke break... or whatever flavour the story takes on in the next few minutes :()

hrm i think sometimes its not the restaurant/store but some of the staff working there.

I went to a takeaway restaurant as the manager happened to be checking on things on the floor(greeted her on the way) before going into the kitchen, stood in a queue(non-white) and people behind me(white) and infront of me(white) were served after the initial customer was taken care of.. but not me.. when i walked across to the adjacent store and got something else the manager came to ask me why i left at which point i explained what happened and she apologized profusely. no idea what happen as a result but the point is this.. staff can give the wrong impression quite easily much like any public facing roles. Guess you have to hire the right people for your business..

PS. this happen in Cape Town too 3 months ago. Found it quite hilarious tho as I'm from Cape Town.. Never ever had this happen before so i was like WTF.. hence just gave up waiting after waiting a few more min and went to the place next door.

I am from Cape Town. I too have been "overlooked" by staff at restaurants/stores. I am white. Did I assume it was because I am white? No. I assumed it was bad service. Maybe what happened to you was indeed some form of discrimination as I wasn't there and have little context. My point is that sometimes people (and I'm not picking on you) should not just assume what happens to them is because of the colour of their skin.

and tomorrow he will tell us he wasn't there and he called in a order and the guy was rude, and when he complained, they fired the worker and gave him a year's worth of free food.
