Would it be a good move to port from Vodacom to 8ta.

8ta users. Your feedback would be appreciated in regards call quality , dropped calls etc

What you're planning on doing?

For data, best speeds imo. Additional free wifi in malls etc subject to simply recharging airtime.

For day to day primary phone use, its good as well. Haven't had any dropped calls.

Service is great as well at both service - and call - centres.

Is 8ta still 8ta? It seems like they are now Telkom Mobile.

Yes, you're right, it's Telkom Mobile now.

However, it still shows 8ta on my phone. Maybe they'll change it later.

I use my phone purely for business. dropped calls , redirecting to voice mail is not an option.

If you're in and around Cape Town, no problem.

I tested my TM connection one afternoon when I left work in Cape Town CBD, phoned a friend via handsfree carkit when I got in my car, and finished the call when I arrived at my complex's front gate in Tyger Valley. I was on the line for 38 minutes! Was very impressed! :)

If you venture out of the city, you can just let your phone roam on MTN, works 100%.

My phone switches automatically between Telkom Mobile & MTN, depending on the strongest signal.

My movements are between the Southern Suburbs and the CBD.
Is LTE supported on the iPhone 5, i think i came across a post on this forum that 8ta does not support LTE on the i5 ( diff frequencies )

Telkom Mobile is also selling the iPhone 5C & S, so the iPhone's LTE bands cater for TM as well.

You can always contact the TM rep to just confirm.

Have a look here : http://www.telkommobile.co.za/devices/detail/apple-iphone-5s-16gb

Mmmm....looks like they are selling the HSPA+ one.

+1, they are helpful when you have a problem, good latency in games and relatively faster website loading than other WISP's.
